2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I wonder what the comparison between a 3.6TDV8 FFRR and a TDv8 Sport would turn out like as the FFRR is slightly lighter IIRC, but the RRS is slightly more aerodynamic. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

No 3.6 in a FFRR to try Tim, aero really does not come that much into play at low speeds its 40MPH + but before it really starts to tell and with the Torque of the V8 doubt it would be any diff. 2014 5.0SC AB

Ok here is the Vbox off the 3.0 TD Sport from this evening

8.69 secs 0-60 over 3 runs on the Vbox. ( In standard auto not sport ) engine with 7000 miles on the clock ( has Vpower Diesel in it )

Sport mode did just 1 run and made 8.6 dead no real diff.

So gave as near as damn it the same as the SDV6 in the Discovery Commercial that was on Supermarket fuel. 2014 5.0SC AB

That's pretty impressive... and shows it's half a second or so swifter than the RRS 3.0... however, your vbox thing would not have captured the 1.5 seconds the TDV8 takes to move off the line from a standing start Mr. Green

Sport mode aside, I find my 3.0 is in fact noticeably more spritely in Dynamic Mode. Sharper throttle response. Should be worth an extra 0.1 secs to 60 Rolling Eyes L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

MY FFRR 2011.5 4.4 TDV8 ( which is still a tight engine with only 1600 Miles on the clock ) Gave me 0-60 in 7.12 secs over 3 runs in standard auto mode ( do not want to sport shift this one yet until it has done another few hundred miles ) I knew this car was quick you can feel it but did not think it would do 7 ish secs on a tight engine. ( has V-Power Diesel In It )

Off Topic Quick questioin - what makes you wait longer to use sport?

Ive struggled to keep it under 3k rpm below 600mile (didnt on a few occasions) - my wife thinks im being stupid - not that ive managed it everytime, now i had got to nearly 1000miles i thought i was "in the clear" despite still having a tight engine, do i need to keep worrying myself. Mike

No it is fine 1000 miles and it is ready to go as a rule , i have just never seen the use in hammering one until i think it is ready and required Laughing , engines do not really loosen up until about 6000 miles IMO and get even better at 12K on the ones i have had. Petrol you just rip them at 1000 miles anyway , never really understood why it is that Diesels take so much longer to really loosen up. 2014 5.0SC AB

THanks - i dont understand why they dont put the guidance in the handbook (although ive also seen them thrape them off the production line!!!)

Just past 1022 miles, but ill still take it easy, this is my first auto (except america) in a long long time - so im not used to it kicking down or holding on - hence it easily exceeding the self imposed 3k limit Mike

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Great info Tboner Thumbs Up

I was wondering if the FF TDV8 was much quicker then the Sport TDV8... now that question has been answered Mr. Green

Mine's also been "tweeked" so I suppose it'll return the high 7's as per your old v8 sport... very happy with that.... as you said it's the 30-60 performance which really brings on the grin RRS gone
