140Nm on wheel nuts? Really??

This is a two fold question / nightmare.

Firstly, I re-fitted my alloys yesterday with LR nuts and torque'd them to 140Nm (as LR states), is this tight enough? They feel very loose?

Second, I bought a set of locking wheel nuts and fitted them and bang, the nut gave way at 140Nm and now I cannot get it off again - just goes around and around - fffffffor gods sake - not what I need right now. They were not LR original locking nuts (first and last thing I will ever buy non LR). Ebay I'm afraid, so cost of removal looks like coming out of my pocket.

Will try to do it myselffirst at the weekend by welding something to it, but if not, LR here I come Big Cry Big Cry

So, a bit odd really - 140Nm enough or too much - anyone?
