It's good to see you lot still throwing your toys out of the pram!!! D3 is soooooo much better than RRS, we don't have crossings (failed ones) named after us on Salisbury Plain!!! Ner Ner

How can the RRS be scored less than a D3? Apart from the slight limits on approach, departure and breakover angles.... oh, hang on, that might be important, right?

Rolling with laughter

Seriously though, in 99% of offroad situations you'd never know the difference between the two.

VA, did you get that sticker I left with DG for you? Whistle Two lives - lived one

This season, oi be mostly toasting my left leg in the 90 while the missus drives the D3

I get just the teeniest feeling that your average D3 owner isn't a big fan of RRS's or their drivers. OR am I just imagining this ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Like when? (in real life - not in the theoretical World of concrete ramps that just happen to be at 29.5 degrees instead of 29 degrees... Rolling Eyes )

Swings and roundabouts which is the better in different situations, but in any case there certainly shouldn't be two stars difference between the two! Same chassis, same suspension, same Terrain Response system, same wheels and tyres, same HDC, etc...

Better on wet grass actually... (small matter of nearly a tonne weight difference helps) Very Happy and let's face it, what sort of off-roading do most of these cars do in this country? Thumbs Up

if grunt is required then clearly the RRS TDV8 wins
if a longer wheelbase is required then the D3 wins
if less weight is required then the RRS wins
if a clamshell tailgate is required then the D3 wins
if the quickest 0-60 is required then the RRS wins
if you need to carry 7 people then the D3 wins

other than that - they're identical Thumbs Up

and they both pan the Freeloader 2 hands down Thumbs Up Steve N | 21MY Defender (on order) | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

So if I want to get a caravan then a freelander is my best bet on a wet grassy campsite Question

What are those pikey cardboard box making D3 owners going to make of that Question

Hmm, indeed I did notice that since that insightful chart was published on LROI, my RRS has started stumbling and having problems climbing over 4-star things off road.

Who cares what a magazine full of adverts think? If you like your car you've got the best one! The RRS is a great car, I need more carrying capacity so I have a D3 - I didn't buy it because LRO says it was better than a RRS Laughing Rolling Eyes Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

One thing in favour of the RRS is it is the narrowest of all Land Rovers bar the Defender...............................
Width Mirrors out Mirrors In
FFRR 2.192m 2.034m
RRS 2.170m 1.983m
Disco3 2.190m 2.009m
Freel2 2.180m 2.005m

Makes a big difference to the interior but more importantly as we all know an inch makes a huge difference to pleasure Whistle Whistle 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

ND, I stopped my subs to all the mags about 4 years ago - too many ads, too many irrelevant items to the LR's I have......................... I now browse them Whistle in Smiths and if there is something of interest I'll buy a copy.
They are all getting way too expensive too considering what they must be raking in for all the ads they carry. What I have saved in subs pays for a couple of tanks of fuel for my 90, which give me much more pleasure than reading about how to repair series landies! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
