All RRSs come out of Solihull, so it's not like there are separate production plants for different regions of the world so I'd be very surprised to hear the satnav feature is based on kit from differing vendors dependent on the target market. That would be somewhat like gold-plating a tomato: expensive and unnecessary.

One for TB, I suspect.... Very Happy

Jay, I don't know how it would work over in Europe regarding removal of the on-the-move lockout. Here in the US the effect is the opposite, meaning that if you update the 2005/6 original satnav software (the one that allows the 1791 hack) with the latest map data DVD, the new firmware instructions wipe out the 1791 code for good Big Cry There is a work around, however. MY07 and later cars for North America come with that backdoor already shut.

Thanks for all of your inputs. I think general consensus is that the systems are the same and therefor no problem. I have sent a reply to Navteq so will see what they come back with.

How many of you have the electronic locking diff? Seemingly the largest Land rover dealer in USA with inventory of over 50 new RRS doesn't have one with this option fitted.

I do, but I got lucky when I purchased my RRS. You are right, that's probably the least popular option on the RRS here in North America, especially in S/C trim. The few Sports here with rear lockers all seem to be 4.4 liter HSEs. If that option is a must, you're probably going to have to wait for the dealer to order one.

I wanted it but because I took a car the dealer had in stock........................
I have driven RRS's with it fitted and was impressed at how often it seemed to intervene when off road, and it certainly made a difference, especially on steep and slippery inclines.
The only time I could imagine it would be useful on the hardtop would be if it snows heavily - hardly a problem (yet) in the Middle East............................. There are very few RRS's in the UK with it fitted - in fact out of all the UK members here I think only Josh has the e-diff on his car. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim/Dubai...

I have a client who wants a Ford GT in time for August, and as I have an office in CA, he's been bombarding my staff with emails and calls - but not really had time to deal with it. LHD ones in Europe seem to put him off and we have found one for him in the desert which he likes....will call the shippers later today and see costs etc...thanks again Thumbs Up

I guess that is pretty conclusive, no USA cars to Europe then, what a pity.

Thanks for all your help.
Cheers

If anyone on the forum has any contacts within LR perhaps they could ask the question.

Thanks,

There is a forum member on rr.net who's in the military and moved - along with his US-spec S/C RRS purchased via military sales and driven in Europe for several months - from a US Army base in Germany to Ft Irwin here in California last year. The poor guy had all kinds of electrical and fuel delivery problems on his Sport, starting when he was still in Germany and continuing after he arrived to California. Last time he checked in he was asking about Lemon Law in California, so I'm not even sure if he owns the car anymore. But, I sent him a PM, as I assume he would have first-hand experience in this if he was using his satnav while in Europe. If he replies, I'll let you know what he has to say about this. It's not that I don't believe what the diplomatic sales guy is saying... But I don't. Wink
