United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Java Black

Just as I thought - "the usual suspects" remained silent - all talk and no trousers It's finally gone! Replaced with BMW 730SE in Sophisto grey Xirallic finish with Oyster (Ivory) and black interior. DAB, Climate glass, Ceramic iDrive and gear selector, power boot and iPhone Bluetooth pack - luvvin' it!

I miss my old RRS "bucket" rattling around but it just had to go!

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi everyone. I too have the now infamous 'knocking' noise on my 07 model HSE. My local dealer (Hartwell Northampton) have tried hard to fix it, but have been unsuccesful to date. They also tell me that they have several other customers with the same issue. They are adament that replacing the bushes (as advised by VOR) will not solve the problem, and the latest software releases have superceded the patch he mentions too. If you remove the fuse for the ARC system, the noise stops - but obvioulsy the ARC doesn't function!

I'm therfore unable to offer any useful advice - but I do agree that some sort of collective action may be necessary in order to get Landrover's attention on the subject.

I'm keen to see what happens with Nutty Nige's car this week - please keep us all posted.

Hi Smiffy.
Mine still clonks when when the arc fuse is pulled, but the technician at the dealer said this makes no difference as the fluid is still moving. You say different......
I have now started to get a slight clonking when I am at a standstill turning the wheel 1/4 turn left to right, just like my old Mk 2 cortina.
I am now begining the suspect that maybe my problem is a different one. Perhaps like Jimmy, I too may need a new steering column.

Possibly so. The first thing I noticed when the fuse had been pulled was that the slight clonk from the steering that you describe (when you turn the wheel from one side to the other at low speed) had gone.

Have had the anti-roll bushings replaced twice! After about a month the knocking returns. Service manager at my local dealership admits that Land Rover do have a problem with RRS and not with FFRR. Land Rover are aware of the problem in UK and as usual are slow to rectify same. Another problem that has compounded my problem is my left front wheel has become unbalanced probably after hitting a pot hole and needs to be straightened by a specialist wheel aligner. This apparantely is adding to the annoying knocking noise especially at about 30-40 mph on uneven surfaces. Wheel costs about €100 to be fixed and is a common problem with alloys on crappy roads.

Hi all I'm back!

I can't believe my eyes

Basically there are two noises

1. A "water knock" that’s pretty quiet as per LR's tech bulletin
2. A LOUD knocking sound that signals something is wrong

Why don’t you organise a meeting at LR and find out what the f11ck is going on - this was my plan until it was fixed - I now have a permanent fix - FFRR TDV8 VOGUE!

PS dont give VOR credit for the bushes IT WAS ME! He jogged in afterwards.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Nice to see you back Doc

I am trying to look in to it at the min. My son has some experience with Hydraulics and he knows some people at work who have degrees in it so we are having an investigation at the min. I have tried to explain to them how it works and they have the general idea. I could do with knowing the internal diameter of the pipe work and the type and spec of the pump, the system pressure and the exact type and spec of the valve body.

Once I have this, which I hope to soon, I can get an answer.

The noise is driving me Fu Censored Censored ing banannas. You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Hydraulic shuttle noise apparently - an inherent part of having Dynamic Stability Control fitted (ie all HSE's!!!). Ive had this problem since new (March 07 RRS TDV8 HSE) and I have been categorically reassured its not a problem (LR Regional Engineer) and that I shouldn't worry (LR Customer Services)!
I've never heard such a load of crap in my life. I've spoken to the sales rep at the supplying dealer to let him know Land Rover's position on this, and that maybe they should be advising customers opting for that this knocking noise is an inherent part of the system - he knows nothing of it. Land Rover have a problem here that I am not accepting with a £58k motor and plan to take this issue as far as it can go until a new replacement or full refund is provided.
Given that they have now had 5 separate attempts to resolve ths issue it's time to hand the matter over to solicitors to make representation that the goods are not fit for purpose and see where we go from there..... Neil

There are several different threads running on this same ongoing problem. Did they not all ought to be combined under one topic? STRENGTH IN NUMBERS Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Glad to see some of you are managing to get LR technical to look at their car. I my self have been declined this honour. I have been told by LR customer services that if the dealer has followed the tips in the bulletin, (which they have and more), then there is nothing more they are willing to do, (Heaven knows which PR school they attended). I do find this refusal bit strange as they have never test driven my car. As Doc says, there may be two problems here.
However, my car goes back yet again to the dealer for further investigation next week.In the meantime I have e-mailed watchdog on this matter in the hope that others have done the same. As rrsjo says strength in numbers!!

Well done Hussar! Alas, I have only Managed 2. One bought an Audi Q7 instead, the other I dont know.
None the less I rekon thats still about 400,000 pounds thats slipped through LRs hands.
I asked one LR dealer, that if I were to go to a BMW showroom and try to trade in my RRS and that after the dealer had test driven my car refused to take it in P/EX because of the clonking noise, I was then to show him the technical bulletin.(Would this change his mind?)I think not!
Anyway my car goes back yet again to the dealer whwere a LR reigonal technical manager will be inspecting the vehicle.(Any bets on what he fobs me off with?)
Anyway be interesting to see if nutty nige or for that matter,if anyone else has had theirs fixed yet.

Hi Frizz
I was intreagued with your thread so I tried it out at the weekend. Went and tried the new X5 Diesel. Nice powerfull smooth engine, and guess what - their stability control DOES NOT KNOCK. Yow were spot on though, they drove mine, obviously being suspicious that I wanted to change to a different brand on such a new car,
and guess what - they wont take it with that awfull slight but annoying knocking noise. Surely that makes it un-saleable merchandise. You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

So where is everyone going from here? There must be quite a few thousand S/C's and 2007 HSE's out there now - all fitted with DR. How long is it going be before this blows up in Land Rover's face BIG TIME. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.
