Anyone here live on or near Skye, Scotland?

I'm taking the family to Skye in February for a weeks holiday. It will be nice to get away from the presures of work for a few days.
I'm looking for recommendations of things to do or see while we're there.
My daughter and myself are experienced horse riders and we like to try to get a good ride or two in while we're on holiday, but I can't find anywhere that appears to be open while we're there Sad
If anyone is local, maybe we can meet up for a beer.

Cheers,

It'll be cold in February!

Already booked Mr. Green , but thanks anyway. Thumbs Up
I called them up this morning to book a table. I don't really know what to expect, but I have heard it is very good.

I was hoping for snow, but apparently, it doesn't snow very much on Skye. Due to the Gulf Stream, I guess.

Yes, VERY good restaurant! Have eaten there myself on a culinary tour of Scotland a few years back. There was also a hotel in Portree called the Bosville that was really very ropy-looking and the rooms were poor but the food in the restaurant was pretty good. Nice hotel up in the NW of the island too called the Flodigarry, past where the road runs out! Thumbs Up

Thanks Shmoogle.
We're staying at a self catering cottage in Broadford so we don't need accommodation, but good places to eat are always welcome.

For a bit of alternative exploring, try Spar Cave out at Elgol some of the best calcite formations in the UK. To get there it is an interesting traverse out round the point at low tide Thumbs Up Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Do your riding when you get back or next time. Wink

I highly recommend this place for experienced riders (adults only) www.spiritofexmoor.com

Best riding country I've found so far, good fit horses that are willing to please, good overall package and full board and by far the best price compared to elsewhere. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I'm off down there soon for a weekend and then a full week in the summer. Have been several times now and tried others in between. Can't be beaten. Very Happy TDV6 - gone

Hi Josh,
You've mentioned that to me before, but I'm going the other way Confused
I'll check into that one for a little later in the year. My daughter is 16, would she be allowed?
Cheers,
