Remap company in Manchester....Anyone used them?

Hello Chaps,

I've spotted a remap company in Manchester area called Mobile vehicle services.

http://www.secureplateuk.co.uk/

They do air con and remapping and use the DIMSPORT files (Italian outfit but well publicised).

They are advertising a TDV6 remap quite cheap compared to some other companies with bold claims for improved fuel effiency.

I beleive they might be something to do with Collins performance in congleton (we've heard about them on here...Good things i remember).

Has anyone used them ?
Has anyone any experience of DIMSPORT remaps?

I'm not in Manchester but it's worth a ride up there if he's any good.
Thanks chaps.

Mart Thumbs Up

Do Land rover offer a written warranty that you will achieve their mpg figures?

Hello Blacksheep,

...........SNIP...........
your "friends" company
.......SNIP..............

????????

I've phoned the number on the website.
A chap named Steve answered , but I wouldnt say we were friends , we havent even met.

They do use files supplied by Collins Performance in Congleton.

I thought the purpose of the forum was to share advice and experience.
A remap is an investment which can easily spoil such a great car if it isnt done well.

Thats why I asked . I have nothing to do with this company but I am considering spending money with them.

Bigmart,

If you click on the Sponsors link at the top right of the page, there are some reputable tuning firms there that will be only too happy to talk to you about the various different options. You might also get some more positive feedback about their products as several of the members here (and on D3) have used them.

Hi Shmoogle,

I've spoken to the sponsors already and studied at length all of the feedback , good or otherwise.

What intrigued me was how cheap it was. Even with Forum discounts the going rate seems to be circa £500 upwards for a remap.
The claims for fuel savings are always subjective and always make me smile with thoughts of "driving miss daisy" to achieve the savings suggested.

Like many forum members I'm keen to get it done but £500+ is a lot of sausage!

If it is a remap file from Collins of congleton then £350 is cheap.

I think I'll probably give it a go and report back on the sucess (or otherwise).

Mart

Fair enough Very Happy

All I would say is there is probably a reason why it is considerably cheaper. Interesting to hear your feedback though having had it done Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

In their hay day Big Mart they were good. Mid 80,s and early 90,s the Escort Turbo and Cossy upgrades were bang on.
Quality parts on exhausts cams etc and good re-maps. They did exactly what it said on the tin.
That is where Collins got their fame from.
I beleive that they now cover all sorts of up-grades. The only Turbo Diesel one I have evaluated was on a Nissan Navara pick-up because thats what my company car is. It was very good.

Let us know how you get on. Thumbs Up You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

I've had it done !!!!!!!!

After a boring drive up to manchester and a much quicker journey back I am pleased to say I've had the remap done.

It is a file from Collins which with their pedigree gives me more comfort.

Initial pick up is much better , the gearbox is not changing down nearly as much and seems much quieter?

No smoke to speak of unless you apply a digital throttle (to the floor Laughing ) when you emit a small puff of smoke which clears straight away and away we go....Woo hooo !!!!

Under hard acceleration no smoke is visible.

I have driven several other TDV6's with TC remap. Feels very similar.

Early timings are 2 seconds quicker to 60. I have a g meter which i did detailed timings before the remap.
I will do timings now mapped but will need a quiet afternoon on my favoured stretch of road.

Biggest difference....Economy.

Usually on a journey of 100 miles ish at 70+ Whistle with a mpg reset you would see about 26 mpg.

On the way home, 90 miles at 80 ish the mpg now reports 35.8.

I'll see how it is after the next fill up and calculate the mpg rather than measure.

Verdict so far......BARGAIN

Even if it gives me 5 mpg it will pay for itself in no time. Then it will make a profit every time i drive it.
Who would have thought your RRS would pay you for driving it!

I will report in a couple of tankfulls on progress.

To anyone who thinks I was driving miss daisy on the way home..........oh no.....She's too lively !

Mart Thumbs Up

PS..Can't wait to put the caravan on the back !

Be interesting to see how the mpg figures pan out after a while - can't see you maintaining 35mpg - that would be nothing short of a miracle Confused

Hi Blacksheep,

Sorry that you feel my report is inaccurate.

For any other forum members who are interested I will post the next chapter.

First complete tankful (shell) , mixed motoring . Motorway and city stop/start.

Calculated at 33 mpg.
Would have usually returned 28-29 on same mix.

Roll on tank no.2
I've got to do mega miles this week so we might even get 2 tanks in.
