Sorry Cliff it must be my pc at fault. I was going to give you some contacts on LPG. I ran 2 P38,s and an FFRR 4.4 on it. If you have big mileage or your a tight Ba##a#rd like me its brill. If you want a receipt or an account you will pay 35p to 45p per litre. If you pay cash I paid 27p. £28 will do between 260 and 300 miles, depending on you right foot. There are lots of systems you don't want but the ones to have are Prins or Zavoli- sequential direct injection. It starts up on petrol and changes over to gas, so you need to buy £20 petrol every 4-6 months - you set the time delay in minutes and the engine temp for change over. Once you drive off you hear a click from the pressure reg and your on gas. The gas fitters that fit it for you will have a tank by the fence. They will the give you a key to the pump with your own dongle on- usually your reg no. Then you can get gas 24hrs a day. The cheapest tank option is a 95litre donut in the spare wheel well. Then you put the spare on top in the boot, or you carry a tube of tyre weld repair and a small compressor, Which is great if you do not have a blow out. Big Cry The tanks have a 20% expansin so a 95 holds around 76 litres, the gas people all know how to modify this to suit you- bend the float on the inlet valve on the tank-84 litre- or snap it off and lock it up in the full position with help of the vice and you get 93 litres in a 95 tank. The wiring harness interfaces into your original injector wires so it intercepts and uses the signal. The inlet ports drill straight into your plenum chamber. When its set up correctly you should get between 2.7 and 3.8 miles per litre of gas. When you get it fitted its between £1600 and £2000 depending where you go. Try to find a fitting centre with the manufacturers dongle id in his laptop because the standard set up calibrates in 4-8 positions, if you have the dongle you can alter the calibration every 100rpm. There will be 2 injector blocks with 4 in each bank. Try to get the Matrix injectors. These can be taken apart and cleaned out with carb cleaner in about 20 mins. They have little petals inside like 2 stroke engines. The reason being in Italy they get clean gas, in UK we get stuff that is re-cycled loads of times- this gives you sludge which looks like 3in1 oil on your fingers, This gives rough running and misfires from time to time. Every 12 months is about right. They will tell you the filter in the feed pipe on the engine stops this but it wont. It is an anti pooling device for cold weather as well as a filter so the gauze is not fine enough to stop it. When it is fitted it needs to come out of the workshop with a fitting certificate because the insurance company have to see this before cover commences, the premium is standard price. Hope this helps Thumbs Up You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Shocked Thanks for that Nige Thumbs Up
There is a local place that does it but they don't look very impressive.
There is a local petrol station that does LPG 24 hrs

Will think some more, thanks again

BTW how long do you reckon before it pays for itself?

Cheers

Cliff

Sorry Cliff only just seen your answer.
If you fill up twice a week you get the pleasure of petrol but at one third the cost. At £85 a go you will find the first 20-25 tank fulls it has paid for itself. So 2 or 3 tanks a week depending on how often you fill up. Twice a week at the pumps and you are in credit within 3 months. Some independant LR specialists are also LPG fitters.
Some peolpe will charge more to fit on an FF rather than a P38 saying it is much harder, but they are presuming your wallet is as large as your car. The only difference to fit it on a 4.4 is you have to move the air suspension pump and bracket in the spare wheel well. It has to go the oposite side to allow the donut tank to fit. This only takes about an hour extra so don't be caught on that one. Get a list off the net of all the Gas stations in the UK for your reference if you travel. If you going on a long run a full tank of petrol and a full tank of gas will cover 500 - 640 miles depending on how you drive it. The gas needs to burn more to get the equivalent power form the engine because it is slower burning so if you get 18mpg on Petrol you get 15 on Gas- if you get 15 on Petrol you get about 11 on Gas. Once you have put 3-5 tanks of gas through it get it back on the laptop and reset it so there is no tolerance problems because if it runs lean and melts the engine it will cost you 5 times the conversion to replace the engine. The old stories of backires destroying the air flow meter are gone now becuae the later injection systems are pressure fed 1 -2 Bars depending on the system, this only happens on the old single pipe feed system. You may find that you need to change the spark plugs more often because of the difference in combustion temp. The general idea on engine wear is that when you inject petrol into the cylinder you are diluting the oil therefore cutting down valuable lubrication. When you inject gas you are leaving the full amount of oil to do its job- lubrictae the piston and bore. Do not buy a car still under warranty thinking you have got a steal, because they are cheap now, and then take it to LR for all the nigly bits to be put right because all the dealers now have a sign in service reception saying WE STRICTLY REFUSE VEHICLES WITH AN LPG CONVERSION IN OUR WORKSHOPS, This has been 2 years at the Guy Salmon group because they view it as a health and safety issue. LR used to cover all but the engine on warranty claims and if any other part of the drive train went it was down to you to prove the LPG had not caused it. Now there is no remaing warranty on any vehicle once the LPG is fitted. Some dealers here in the midlands - only a hand full of privates -will still look at problems not related to the drive train but you need to remove the LPG tank before you turn up. This is quite simple. It is all down to your personal choice Cliff. I tried sending you a pm and it does not come through I suspect. So if you need to know any more send me a pm with your number on and any questions you have and I will call you. It wont be today cause I got to go to Aston Martin

New here so forgive me if I'm a noobie numpty but I assume FFRR is a "Fully Fledged Range Rover"? Confused

If It is then, Yep My Dad has had his RR Vogue V8 converted by a local approved dealer near Aberdeen (Knight Engineering).
He had a few teething problems but it turned out to be a problem with one of the injection jets and was easily fixed by Knights.

The conversion has meant that Land Rover won't honour ANY of the Engine Warranty - which I feel is total overkill - but he has a full engine warranty supplied by the LPG System supplier, so he's happy enough. Saves him a fortune on fuel and he has almost identical fuel consumption and no loss of performance. His tank is in the Spare wheel space and he now just carries an aerosol based puncture repair kit rather than a spare wheel.

Hope this helps. Smile 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
