Hi - another sort of new member, been registered for a while but haven’t had time to post before now.

This forum was really useful when I got into the market for an RRS last year, always wanted a SC and changed jobs which moved me from 40k miles per annum to under 10k. I bought a totally stock, 2 owner FSH 2006 SC in December on 72k and havent looked back - i love it! Somehow managed to do 5k miles in it already, just love driving it.Will post some pics when I get chance to give it a proper clean up....

Thanks to all for the contibutions to the site, it was really useful to a newbie!

Hello from me.....Prior E53 X5 petrol 4.4i owner for 11 years so used to the realities & costs in properly keeping & fuelling such cars.

Despite my longstanding loyalty to BMW I have an open mind...Amongst other cars L320 4.4 petrol quietly on my radar.

New to the RRS site, I've been on Disco 4 for about three years.

Had one of the first crankshaft failures on my 2015 Disco 4 HSE SDV6 at three months and 13000 miles. After a replacement engine the car has been fine and more powerful (than the first engine) ever since...

The Disco is coming up for 3 years old in November, and I made the fatal mistake of talking to the sales lady at the dealership whilst the Disco was in for a service.

She priced me up for a fully laden Disco 5 HSE Luxury and it was only about 80 Euros a month less than the Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6, so I've ordered one of these instead.

Spec will be as follows:
Carpathian Grey
Tinted rear windows
Espresso leather
Centre console fridge
Off road pack (low + high ranges, Terrain 2 - which I think is standard in the UK)
Drive pack (obliged to go for photo mirrors)
Electric towbar
HUD
Identical spare wheel
380w Meridian stereo
Increased volume screenwash bottle (she was desperate for me to take this option, but hey its only 53 Euros)
Conversion to a commercial vehicle (taking the rear seats out and putting a plastic bulkhead in to avoid French registration taxes and to enable me to claim the VAT back).

Delivery believed to be between September and November...we'll see!

I live in Portugal now but previously 10 years in Australia were I owned a 80 series.....

i have been reading the forum for a few weeks now and I am in the process of buying a RRS between 2006/07.
This will be my first RRS, it will be a second car for the family and for some light off-road tracks on weekends.

I work offshore so the car will only be used for a third of the year.

Can some one point me for the list of the thinks to look for when buying a used RRS.

The forum looks great.

I've an HSE Dynamic on order and am told delivery will be late May/early June having ordered it at the end of February. Really looking forward to it so am hoping there will be no delays.

I've had BMW's for the last 6/7 years and never had any issues at all (appreciate there's an element of luck as all marque's have issues from time to time) but am a little concerned about some of the reliability issues I'm reading about (again appreciate that forums can produce skewed results, either positive or negative ).

I know all things BMW and am looking forward to learning and experiencing a real "4x4" ☺ particularly a trip my wife and I have planned in it to the Italian lakes in August.

No doubt I'll inevitably have questions which I'm hoping you can help me out with ?
