I gave up with online banking 3-4 years ago and asked both of the banks (in writing, thankfully) that I bank with to close down my internet banking accounts................................ in the last week I have had at least 20 email requests purporting to be from H-BOS, Lloyds and Nationwide (the last two I have never banked or saved with). I have contacted HBos today and they have asked me to forward the emails purporting to be from them as they have received thousands of emails from customers about this scam (which they tell me it is) So be warned that if you get any email requests from any of the big banks claiming that they have been upgrading their computer system security and require you to call a special phone number DON'T reply by email or phone the number - unless of course you would like to have your account(s) cleaned out. Thanks Tim. I get 20-30 spam emails a day, of which 4 or 5 will always be from spurious "major banks" seeking your security details. I think you'll find most originate from abroad (Nigeria, etc) where controls are either laxed or non-existent. we still get calls from people trying to scam us - the last call I remember went something like this;

asre: "whats your best price on 5 Plasma screens - I need urgent"
me: "what exactly do you require? size, make?"
arse: "what do you have in stock?"
me: bigh sigh then "we have everything in stock - how about 5 off 65" Panasonic displays"
arse: "what price?"
me: "£6k each + VAT + £2k shipping"
arse: "I will take these please - can I get tomorrow? I can pay by Credit Card now"
me: "that is fine, however but for such a large order we can only accept payment via US Dollar?"
arse: "I will pay into your bank now - what is your account number?"
me: "11-22-33, AAA123BBB" - seriously, this is what I have said in the past"
arse: "I will make payment now - will you ship immediately?"
me: "as soon as the money payment is received I will ship"
arse: "thank you - I will call back to confirm payment"

end of call - then 5 mins later I had a call back;

arse: "hello - I am calling about the Plasma"
me: "hello - sorry sir, which Plasma"
arse: "I just called for 5 Plasmas - I have made payment"
me: "sorry sir, but you must have the wrong number"

arse hangs up and end of call - he never called back - what a shame

the thing is everytime they call its the same story - they are just complete idiots - most of the time they cant even string a sentence together - I want to say to them is, if your going to scam me then you need to try a lot harder; like know what you are trying to scam from me for starters - total muppets

There is an easy way of pi ng them off, do what i do,say i will put you through to the correct department, put them on hold with an annoying tune and then forget them it works everytime  some of my Previous cars
