Service level indicators

I’m a new owner.

My l494 MY15 had the service light count down from 1750 Miles, a few days later only having covered a few hundred miles it dropped to “service required now” I’ve done a few hundred miles in the last week and it’s now gone back up to saying service due in 2450 miles!

Seems odd to go back up any ideas please?

Hi,

My 16MY AB did this.

An “oil dilution” additional interim oil change solved it.

Thanks Scrumps

If the oil is degrading why would the miles to next service go upwards?

I can understand it reducing more quickly, but not increasing?

I'm pretty sure it's adaptive. If you do some town driving, it drops quickly, then increases after a longer motorway journey

That would be an algorithm-based system at work then. Much like social media, it assumes that if you're doing X now then that's what you'll keep doing and make recommendations accordingly. Change your behaviour and see a different suggestion. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
