My air con is broken and I got a quote from an independent RR specialist to replace it coming in at £1,100. That’s a new condenser at £280, 4 hours labour @ £150 and then VAT.

After searching this forum, that seems quite a lot? Is it worth going to a garage outside of London? Do I need an RR specialist for this type of work? Any recommendations would be great!

I had a mobile guy do my Jag XF. Looks to be similar amount of work and it cost me £450 (albeit in Yorkshire). But there are mobile aircon folk in most locations who probably don't charge £150+vat an hour to take off your bumper cover.

I guess there is that whole shortage of mechanics thing ppl say. Charge what they like.

On a 2009, maybe it's time to start having a go yourself!

My mate did our condenser on our d3 OK not a sport s/c but it took him 30 mins start to finish. There is a bit more on the sc but some good how to guides on here.
