got a 2006 RRS petrol and have noticed it got to be quite dark for the head lamps to come on automatically even when it been raining the don't come on
so question is can I change the sensor settings or will it be a stealer job ?

No one can do it.

It is what it is. Just have to live with the poor performance.

yeah I know what you mean they do come on automatically it just has to be nearly pick black before they do like you say it a pointless feature I'm surprised RR didn't jump on it sooner

I don't see the point of auto headlights. If a driver can't decide if it's dark then they probably shouldn't be driving.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

An older Jaguar has a knob you can adjust the point which it comes on at. And this works ok.

However the RRS uses the BMW sensor which is built into the rain sensor.

Ah, rain sensor. That's another annoyance for me - auto wipers. They're always either too slow or too fast for the conditions.

I do like to use a rain disperser on my screen instead. Deals with much of the wet stuff without needing wipers. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

My auto wipers seam fine

my wipers are fine to yeah I pop my lights on and off when needed my missus followed me home in the rr last night and the car lights came on automatically but the range rover didn't it

I always drive with the lights on, every time. With regards the auto wipers. I found them annoyingly sensitive (no pun intended), so I switched mine off with the IID tool. So it’s alls done retro style with a commanded single sweep or an intermittent sweep. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I did that with on my old TDV8. The IID wouldn't work with my SDV6 for some reason so I can't do it with this one. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Sorry to hijack of sorts. But has my 2008 HSE got auto wipers and how do I activate them?

push the wiper stalk all the way down, so you know its in the OFF pos.
Then push it up one. (this is the auto or intermittent setting) - - -

Then turn the ignition on ( I think it only needs to be I)

Then open the door and stand on the side steps (* where fitted)
At the top middle of the windscreen is the blue sensor (near the mirror)
Wipe your finger over this sensor.
If the auto works, the wipers should quickly trigger and try and catch your fingers (so be careful where your other hand is too!)

found out you can not change settings for auto headlamps but also found out thati believe the light sensor for the A/C and the lights is that little dome in the top centre of the dash, up close to the windscreen near what looks like a speaker grill - it needs to be able to see the sky at all times so make sure nothing is covering it and it is clean.

The solar sensor at the top of the dash is for climate control only.
Basically when the sun is bright and shining on the cabin, it turns the auto fan speed up a bit. (I think)
It also knows if the sun is coming in from the left or right, so could do Minor temperate adjustments on that side.

It’s probably more complex than that, but you get the idea
