Fuel Cooler for Starter Removal

I'm on the way to replacing Oil Pump on 06 2.7 TDV6. Everything ive read here and on disco3 suggests for starter motor removal to move the fuel cooler, and it seems like it should be a really easy process, so i'm hoping im missing something obvious!

On My cooler, the bolt looks to come in from engine side, and i cant find a way from above or below to get a tool onto the bolt....am i targeting the right fixing ?

The manual seems to show the bolt coming in below, but i cant find it or am being an idiot!

Ive actually released the starter and can move it forward an bit, but not enough to get the timing tool in place

Any help much appreciated
Thanks!

I don’t recall it being difficult.

If it’s square. That the thread that doesn’t move.
Maybe you need to put your arm around the suspension/wheel arch and then get the bolt from above
Hug your car

Once the bolt is out, just move it out the way.

Ok thanks, managed to get to it this morning, had to remove the aluminium shield under the driver wheel arch so i could get a 10mm ratchet spanner from above and it came free. As you say, i did end up hugging the underside!

Next challenge is to figure out how to get the starter motor out, as looks like a couple of pipes are located in a plastic clip above it around where the timing tool needs to go...not to mention trying to work almost blind to get to the positive cable

cuppa first!

Black pipes are fuel pipes
They have quick disconnect connectors on them, but they don’t like being removed from the car, only shifted a
Little by force

I don’t think you need to touch them for starter removal.

Managed to wiggle it out and i can see why the comments on undoing the +ve cable, thanks for your support.
Thankfully it wasn't wasted effort as the pump was one of those that can be prone to failure.

Biggest challenge after undoing the nut was not actually wiggling the motor out of the way, but finding out the timing tool needed to be slimmed down as it was too tight a fit, some 80 grit got it to the point of being able to be inserted and another tip from Disco Mikey on disco 3 forum about using the trolley jack handle as lever extension on my breaker bar and i was home n dry!

sorry i should have said Trolly Jack...essentially take the top piece and put it over the 2ft break bar to get me the leverage.....i had no chance without it. Worked great for me on undo and also the +90 degrees stretch on tightening

Just remembered.

I think the answer is to take the gearbox plastic undertray off.
To get your arm to the bolt
