You really need the cam retainers
But i don’t know what you have to loose, reuseing old ones.

Injectors aren’t coded

Jaguar 2.7 heads are the same

Hi mate do you think i could reuse the cam retainers off my existing head? My thought process is, I can prob get another full head for 150. The time wasted if mine dont work would outstrip that amount anyway?

Also heres a strange one. I refitted the auxiliary belt and gave her a good rev up and seem to now have full power and idles ok?

I do hower have a bad tapping sound but wondering if could just be a tappet thats drained and possibly needs a good run?

If it’s taxed etc. Then give it a run and see.

When you have it apart, you could swap the cams and cam caps over, rotate by hand and ensure they turn freely.
Remove caps and ensure there are no score marks

If in doubt , you have plenty of time to order a Head

But yes, 150 is a small amount when you consider the cost of parts you can’t use twice.
Headbolts, head gasket and your time
