Sadly my RRS was stolen at 11:15pm last night from my driveway. Have obviously reported to police (case already closed) and insurance. It’s a 65 plate and I’ve owned for nearly 5 years. It’s my third RRS and I think my last. The insurers - LV - tell me that they are no longer providing cover. I don’t feel inclined to upgrade to a later model and I’m not overly keen on buying a new (to me) 6 year old RRS for the insurance money I expect to get.

The point of my email, as you feel so helpless/ angry, is for any tips or suggestions as to what I might do to look out for it? I’m driving around the local area to see if abandoned, checking the usual car sales websites, etc. 2005 RRS First Edition Supercharged

Re LV I am with them have been for over 20 years , does this refusal to insure apply to all RRS or just from a certain year/value ? Mine is a 2007 TDV8 so only worth around £6500.

Perhaps "In Control" app can be reactivated. You would obviously have to pay for it, then the tracker would pick up the car. Worth asking if its possible.

I’ve had a search of FBook and I can see my car reg and a library picture of a similar model has been posted and reported as stolen.

I contacted LR first thing this morning regarding reactivating the tracker. I was supposed to get an email within an hour but it didn’t arrive. Chased at lunchtime and then tried again at 430 but they had closed for the day. Interestingly the guy this morning said that there is a 14 day cooling off period, so if the car wasn’t picked up by the tracker I could call back for a refund, otherwise I’m not sure I want to spend another £260 on top of everything else. 2005 RRS First Edition Supercharged

Sorry to hear that news, however, on the subject of LV, they will insure if it's part of a multi car policy.

Thanks for the info re LV , re the stolen vehicle hope it is found before they destroy it my mate had his Defender stolen a few months back the interior was totally wrecked but nothing missing, what goes on in these idiots heads is beyond comprehension.

I have read stories that scallywag steals a car and then parks it up for a few days.
Scallywag watches if any interest (ie Tracker is activated) no interest, Scallywag drives away with new plates.

So it might be still local, join your local Nextdoor.co.uk and post it, in all your surrounding areas, it may have false plates on it but describe colour and any special dents/scratches stickers etc.
Some nosey neighbour has noticed this and not sure its stolen.

Normally they will park it up in an area where it wouldn’t look out of place...even an NCP car park... social media is your friend flood your media links with photos description etc...
Unfortunately unless it’s got an aftermarket tracker it’s unlikely to be found on the Oem systems... these guys know how to disable them...
