That's extortionate Shocked

I knocked up a quick list of some C1 oils the other day in this thread... https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic56556.html

Steve is right, I have bought oil in 20 litre containers previously from a distributor. This was the Castrol Edge Professional C1 oil. I bought this from Kernow Oils and I've now used this up apart from a couple of litres I use for top-ups.

At the moment, I am using the Shell Helix AF-L because I bought a few 5 litre bottles bottles when I identified it going cheap... https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic54286.html

If you're not a brand snob, the best priced oil that is compliant with technical specification is S&A Momentum... https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic54645.html Kev

Oil does kinda have a shelf life. If the bottle sides get sucked in it’s going off.

But if 2 changes is less than 1 change, you may as well have a big
Bottle

Yeah I agree, Andy. I think manufacturers typically say around 5 years or so.

Went you think about it, with some of these modern oils that can be in the engine for 2 years on vehicles with extended service intervals, 5 years is not too long by comparison.

One thing I'm not sure of is exactly what happens to the properties of the oil and the additives over a prolonged period. I'd be interested in finding out about that. Kev

Swapped the oil out last night - it was jet black already, looked like the 6 month old oil i tool out earlier in the week.

Is this normal after just a few days? L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)
