Oman 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

Thanks for all the help Col and Brit Plumber Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I spent the evening searching and found these on ebay.

Look like power fold, with memory and heating. I'll contact them after the weekend and see if they have plain power fold perhaps with puddle light.

They're a bit pricey, but finding breakers here in Oman is difficult, although I could find power fold LR3 or RRS Mk1 mirrors which would be straight plug and play. Then I'd spend the effort to 'french' in something like this to give me the indicators. But this would be last resort as I do prefer the newer LR4.5 mirrors.

Again thanks for the help and time spent looking for and post here Thumbs Up

Guy, they certainly look like the one's, I can't be totally sure but although the picture looks right those L/R parts number they quote are for the the Disco 4, L494 Sport and the Full Fat L405 and I think Freelander which is certainly wrong. The D4 is the only one that will bolt straight on, one number they do quote LR051380 is a D4 heated powerfold mirror but not to sure it has approach lights, I don't wish to sound patronising in any way but I would ask for photos of the actual items as I would hate to see you pay a lot of money for something that is wrong.

Cheers

Cheers Col, it's not patronising at all.

If I go down that road I will be triple checking they are the correct items. Not only is it a fair bit of money, but also once they arrive in Oman a lot of shipping cost, especially if they have to be returned....

Still going to look at the poor man's option of buying scrap lr3 power fold mirrors and adding indicators to those and I think best to look at all options before choosing.

Cheers

Only been to Oman once it was rather warm, which is quite interesting realy as I should have been in Kabul but I think the plane took a wrong turn. Rolling with laughter

Haha, that's been known to happen ... 🤣😂

Yeah currently a rather warm and little humid 40C here. Not conducive to going into the garage and working on the car...

Better off inside with a cold beer 😉 2006 RRS S/C CONSTANTLY under modification...

That certainly looks like the right mounting Guy needs Chris, the problem is that is off a SE and that part number does not say it's a powerfold mirror, just a basic mirror with no extras, where as on the numbers I quoted as example's specifically say's fold back which with so many variations make it very hit and miss.

D4 Mounting

L405 & L494 Mirror mounting totally different shape and will not bolt directly to the L320 door. Although the actual head unit can be changed but means he has to buy two pairs of mirrors, to make one pair.

I re-read my post again and it was a little misleading. What I meant to say was that the only bracket that will fit is the Disco 4.5 but the main frames of L405 and L494 are the same. The problem with the numbers you quoted I think will be RHD and he needs LHD.

What I did was buy the basic Disco 4.5 mirrors from 2 different sources and then bought LHD L405 mirrors with everything on them and stopped the parts over. JLR were selling off a load of LHD L405 mirrors in the UK so they were cheap. I think all in it cost about £400 with black painted caps. I now have full spec mirrors on the car with camera, puddle light, Wade sensing, heated glass, blind spot, power fold, memory and auto dimming. I also have lots of other parts left to sell off like the LHD parts of the mirror etc. So sometimes it’s cheaper to buy multiple to get what you need.

There’s also specific mirror glass for the Middle East but I think it’s just the wording on the mirror for objects apear closer....

I’ve spent some time at Thumbrait and Salalah in my time. 2012 5.0 SC AB

The two numbers I quoted LR051371 R/H and LR051373 L/H are for Left Hand Drive vehicles, they are the basic version, heated powerfold, approach lights and camera, there are another 10 versions of each L/H/D mirror depending on options. The stupid thing is none of them new come with the mirror lens, camera, indicator lens, electric motor or approach lights etc. as I said probably find the only difference's are a few more wires in the mirror harness and extra holes in the housing. Personally I couldn't be bothered buying a bit here and a bit there, along with fact that when I did mine the D4.5 hadn't been in production that long so very few used ones around, so just bought all new parts from Dan when he was at Duckworths. I guess it's a personal choice and depends on which way they wish to do it if anyone want's to do it.

Apologies Cpl, I thought you were listing the numbers you bought but missed the LHD equivalent.

When it came to assembling my mirrors the Disco 4 never had the options I wanted so had to assemble my own. They’re very easy to disassemble/reassemble when you look at how they are made (much simpler than the original ally framed mirrors). 2012 5.0 SC AB

Just had a thought, if it’s the indicator in mirror you want, have you thought about the Powerful UK caps? I’ve not checked to see if they do an early mirror cap or if it’s just the 10 to 12. 2012 5.0 SC AB

No Problem Thumbs Up but you do really have to wonder why L/R felt the need to produce 11 different mirror combinations just for the R/H side of a L/H/D vehicle for example, which doesn't actualy include any of the internals components except basically different wiring harnesses.

I'm actually looking at both power fold (as my 06 for some reason I can't understand doesn't have it) and the mirror indicators.

I've seen the Powerful UK once they offer for the 05-06 cars and they look a bit Censored in my opinion.

Agreed, very Citroen C3! Which is fine for a C3 of course before I get some abuse from Citroen lovers.

For powerfold you would also need the powerfold module for your car. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Straight swop with an additional wire to the mirror indicator taken from the Pos on the door indicator. Cols is a 2013 and mine is a 2012. 2012 5.0 SC AB

As Chris said straight swap, if you have surround cameras that is a bit of a issue as the RRS1 will not fit the mirror and the RRS2 camera's are not compatible with the RRS1 wiring, although I did mange to modify and fit a couple of the reversing cameras and fit to the mirrors, and they do exactly the same thing.

Cheers
