United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 Autobiography Siberian Silver
Weird Accelerator

Hi All

I am new to RRS ownership after picking up a 2011 Autobiography Sport on Saturday.

I love the car but it has a strange issue in that sometimes when i press the accelerator pedal lightly nothing happens and I have to release and press again and then it seems to accelerate.

I hope that makes sense. It is almost as if it sticks or something. It can be a bit unnerving when pulling away if it happens

Has anyone else had this and if so can you point me in the direction of what might be wrong?

Thanks

It's a well known issue, sadly. It annoys the hell out of me at times.

Oh, and welcome to the RRS club. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I read on the Disco3 forum that putting it in Sand mode makes for a sharp getaway from junctions/roundabouts when needed.

Just sticking it in 1st gear will do the job most of the time. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

This problem is intermittant at all times not just when pulling away.

Sometimes I am driving in traffic and it speeds up and i push down and nothing happens so i have to lift off and then push down again for it respond.

It seems to be doing it more and more

On Saturday I pulled out to pass some cyclists and about half way when accelerating it just stopped going and i had to lift foot off and push it back down. I went back to the dealer but they said they didnt know what was causing it so I am going to take it back for them to test it for a couple of days

It also has a noisy compressor which is apparently the rubber housing which has perished meaning it is vibrating against the chassis

He said you can get a kit for this but havent been able to find one

As you proably have a AMK Compressor fitted it is quite likley the mounting bushes are worn, and this kit is the sort of thing you need. L/R used to do a kit LR061888 however that number is no longer any use as it now relates to the complete compressor.

I think you need to confirm it is a Amk compressor and not Hitachi first, easy enough just drop plastic cover and look at how it's mounted to chassis as both totally different. Not sure when they started fitting the Amk, but I think it was from Vin. BA708255 on, although they did revert back to the Hitachi for a short time during MY12/13 production.

Amk looks like this underneath.

Hitachi mounting bracket looks like this, rubber mounts are RVL500014

Might be worth getting the throttle pedal potentiometer checked in some way if possible, only a suggestion. Do you have any fault codes like PO123-00 or similar?

Or 05 supercharged does that with the accelerator sometimes. If I've just switched it on and after a few minutes I blip the throttle, nothing happens. Second time it's OK. Its almost like the engine is catching up with the pedal if the see what I mean.
