Steel Wheels

Hi,

If I fit steel wheels to my car what sort of torque should the nuts be tightened to?

Thanks,

Hugh

I would have thought it would be the same as the alloy wheels Hugh (140Nm). Kev

Do you need to use shorter wheel studs? The holes in steel wheels will not be so deep as alloys.

What steel wheels have you found that's rated to the weight of the RRS? I wasn't aware that steels were ever fitted to them, other than the totally useless space-saver. I seem to remember steel wheels being fitted to the base D2 but they were quite skinny and 16" or 17" which wouldn't go over your brake disks.

17" wheels will go on a RRS TDV6 (2.7). Either D3 17" if you can find them or BMW X5 rims with different wheel nuts.D2 rims have the wrong offset/centre hub hole for the D3/RRS. 07MY RRS TDV6

Well you certainly won't have to worry about kerbing your rims with those on. I guess that if they'r rated for a D4 they should be OK on your RRS.
