France 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Maya Gold
Pre-Heater disabled

2006 Sport. I have had to have the Fuel Pre-Heater disconnected. To replace it will cost around £800.00 + and I'm wondering if it more of a luxury than a necessity?!? I would be grateful for advice as to exactly what difference, if any, it will make to running the engine in very cold weather. If I were to purchase a second hand unit, is there any way the supplier could check to make sure what they are supplying is in good working order? Andrew Kennedy

First. I would post over here with more info.
They maybe able to fix your old one which is most suitable.

If you use your car 5 days a week in winter then it’s a good idea to have it working.
Keeps the engine and oil upto temperature.

Hi,

the reason L/R fitted the FBH is to help the engine get up to operating temp quicker Thumbs Up

it also helps the cabin get some heat quicker as well, in stop start traffic in cold weather the FBH can fire up a few times its not just when you first start the car, if its below thresholds it will fire up again to help the engine, so you may get increased fuel use if its not working and increased engine wear (does depend on your journeys!)

as said Bow down have a look over on D3 for the specific topic

you should not have to have it disconnected either after a few faulty runs it will lock out and just not work.
