Dashcam recommendations

My dashcam has decided to go to dashcam heaven Big Cry so I'm looking for recommendations on its replacement.
I am looking for something very small, this one is 40mm dia x 70mm lg which is ideal as its permanently left on the car. Do not want one with sucker attachments. Prefer one with a screen as its an instant indicator to see if its working. May go for the same make but as technology is forever changing its good to see whats out there Very Happy

Iv'e had the Thinkware F770 for a couple of years now and it hasn't missed a beat. Because it doesn't have a built in screen (it connects by blue-tooth to your phone), it's pretty discrete. I fitted mine just to the left of the rearview mirror and hardwired it. The speed camera warning can get a bit wearing at times though.

I'd recommend the one I installed recently due to the size. See my write up here...

My dead dashcams don't go there: at least one is in a prominent position on the tailgate glass. I have a discreet 'live' rear-facing camera but am convinced that a more obvious one helps to deter tail-gating and such like.

I've had my F770 for a number of years now (front and rear). I too prefer the idea that someone can see the cam rather than have it discrete. Should deter vandalism as well.
I use the speed cam warning facility although it can be a bit annoying but you can turn it off. It has other things like lane wander control and stuff. The quality of the video recorded is very good. It would be nice if they have made the control buttons illuminated as every couple of weeks it reminds you to re-format the SD card by pushing a button but its not easy to see a black button against a black cam body. But that's a minor niggle. Robin

Agree with knwatkins on the K2S, I have the K1S (predecessor) and its a great wee device, very discrete.

I see Thinkware have recently released a 4k UHD camera U1000, quite compact 112mm long x 64mm wide x 32mm deep, visually looks quite neat but not cheap though. Never had any issues with current Thinkware F770 excellent camera but might be time for a upgrade.

Cheers
Col

Thanks for all recommendations, Thumbs Up but after a bit of research & youtube videos, I decided to go for Viofo a119 v3. Not too expensive (Amazon £99.99, but on sale there for £79.99, same day delivery. Some of Amazon deliveries are brilliant). Looks good, see how it goes Very Happy

Camera installed & first impressions are good. Easy to adjust all functions. Discreet mount & almost invisible from the front.
Very positive youtube videos on it & Dashcam talk lists it as best all round camera. It has GPS & buffered parking mode which is usually only found in expensive Korean cameras. This was not expensive, Amazon £99.99 but it was reduced to £79.99 for a day. I had a couple of queries so emailed the manufacturer in China on Sunday & had a reply by 8.00am Monday with all questions answered. Terrific service. You can have the screen on or off or select between 30 secs to 3 minutes. It had the same connections as my previous mini 0906 so was simple to install Very Happy

Well done. Proof of the pudding is in the eating. So it'll be interesting to see how it performs. But best of luck with it. Robin

Take a look at the Garmin Mini dash cam. Very discreet. No screen and app driven. Less than £80 too.
