Suspension dropped overnight - front wheels only.

To annoy my wife, I parked my car with the suspension in off-road height when returning from a shopping-trip (she isn't the tallest person).

Two days later and I found the car on its knees, the front of the car much lower than the rear, but what looks like 'standard' height rather than resting on the bump-stops. As soon as the engine was started, it popped back up like a rocket (so there must have been pressure in the reservoir).

Does anyone know of a good schematic for the suspension system? The ones found by Google images aren't brilliantly informative.

Thanks,

Hugh

I'd have a look at your front valve block Hugh. Drop the offside front wheel arch liner and you'll see it. Take it out, disassemble, give it a good clean out and lube up or renew the o-rings. Kev

Ace. I'll dig out the heavy-duty stands. I don't want a heavy car dropping on me - again. Rolling with laughter

I thought I'd bite the bullet and change the valve-block. The car had a new pump before I bought it and I couldn't help wondering whether there were bits of desiccant in it. Bumper-off, cracked the joints and walked away ... swapped it over and bumper back on. So far, so good: it hasn't dropped and the pump runs for less than ten seconds when I start the car after 24 hrs - better than the minute or so before the valve-block was changed, and much better than the four minutes it took with a leaky reservoir.

And, yes, there was a lot of white dust in the line from the pump; I can only hope it isn't fresh.

A remote pressure sensor/gauge would be interesting...
