What do you mean on traffic islands?

I have this size on my L320 with no problems. I assume you have replaced all four? Do they all have the same tyres with similar tread depth? Kev

On my L320 I have 275/40 from new. 255/55 are not the correct size for a 20 inch wheel are they? L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Aren't 255/55 tyres the L494 size on 20s so the tyres are correct for the wheel as I understand it.

Does the OP mean the traction control is triggering when he says ABS? Or is it the ABS kicking in early when braking for junctions? Not sure I understand from his post. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Same here. I assume he talking about traction control and I'm leaning towards different tyres and/or tread wear which is resulting in the system kicking in. This has nothing to do with the particular profile of the tyre he is running as we know it happens on the standard 275/40/20 tyres also.

The above is just an assumption. Kev

Hi all sorry no to have been more clear the light on the dash is for the dsc it feels like the passenger side break is coming on the wheels are 20 inch original landrover whith 255/55r20 pirelli scorpion on all brand new thay have a larger rolling circumference which I assume is causing the problem but don't understand why when it appears other people are using them car drives fine on its original 20 inch wheels with 275 40 R20 on but they are on the last legs and these new wheels would have been a great upgrade any thoughts by traffic Islands I mean roundabouts many thanks all

As long as the rolling radius is equal on all four corners, is shouldn't make any difference. It certainly is a weird one.

Do you have access to another wheel of the same size? If so, you could try swapping one corner at a time to see if one corner is causing an issue. Kev

Firstly the wheels will be fine as long as they are correctly load rated,,

Then 255/55/20's

Check the following;

Tyre pressure is the same on all 4
Tread depth is the same across the face on all 4
Condition of the side walls (No cracking at all)

If all of this is OK then I guess you may have just stepped outside of the
manufacturers design size..

L320 RRS is 275/40 or 45 many people use both profiles and no issues
As you said yourself the rolling radius is quite different..

Get a cheap ish set of 275/45/20 tyres and see if you get the same error with them..

worst case you have two sets of tyres and one of them will be up for sale..

Be worth checking the ABS sensors and their wires. Maybe one has been dislodged when the wheels were changed. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi,
only thing I can think to add is check the Width of the wheels Question

275 have an optimum width and so will 255 but if its a wide wheel it could be too wide for the 255 just a thought as said already it should cope with just the 30mm ish radius increase if all 4 are matched

you may of course have a lead foot - the nearside is the side that loads up most when going through a roundabout (Island in the midlands)

YOu should be able to get the CCF updated for the tyre size but really that should make naff all difference 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

Car Config File but I'd be pretty certain the problem is nothing to do with your wheels and tyres.

Right foot or a mechanical issue. 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

Def not right foot only on a test run and going real slow if mechanical why is it ok whith original wheels on really confusing does the car config file effect dynamic stability control if I fit tyres that are 255/45/r20 that would be almost same rolling circumference as the original275/40r20 do you think that would work many thanks all
