Cambelt TDV 3.0

Driving a 2010 RRS with 99,000 km. So 9y old but still far from the required mileage. What's the experience with delaying the cambelt change?
Thanks

From memory, the 3.0ltr had a cambelt change interval of 112k miles or 7 years, whichever is the sooner. The time limit is due to the rubber cracking with age, although there will be a safety margin built in.
I would suggest that you may be on borrowed time already, time wise, and it would be prudent to get it done ASAP.

The answer depends on your attitude to gambling.

I believe in service early.

Hi,
Interesting topic. Just purchased a December 2011 TDV6 3.0 with 37,500 miles. It's on my list of work that needs to be done.
I'm guessing its major issue if the belts breaks. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm guessing the engine would need replacing. Is this correct?
Thanks
Damon

If the belt breaks, the engine is as good as scrap

A new engine is around £9.5k by the time its fitted

Belt replacement is £700

Shouldn't be a difficult decision IMO Thumbs Up

Due at 7yrs or 112k, whatever comes soonest

As above replace it. Belt replacement, irrespective of mileage, should be done at the required time interval. Kev

Ok, so scheduled for change in a few weeks at 9.5 year old and 100,000 kilometers.
Interesting that on the maintenance schedule posted as sticky I can only see the 168,000 km but not the 7 years. 2010 Bali Blue, Reverse Camera, Winter Pack, Privacy Windows, Sunroof, Steel Tread Plates.

There are indeed two belts. One on the front of the engine for crankshaft and camshaft timing and another belt on the rear for the high pressure fuel pump, which is also timed on the 3.0 TDV6 Kev
