Wynns Formula Gold diesel treatment

Someone has given me a bottle of this - Can anyone advise if it's worth using - any risks? Does it actually work if used regularly?

Hi Spangler,
I’ve just done a google search and it gets 4.5 out of 5. Numerous reviews on it, take a look and I might just try it myself.

Read the reviews Kev but I'm weary of using any additive as I don't know if there is any risk to the engine when adding these. Heard and have read warnings against doing it hence posting the question.
Appreciate the response.

I’ve used redex deisel engine cleaner once a month and occasionally redex dpf cleaner on my last 4 4x4’s which is usually for 12-18 months on each vehicle. So I’ve always had a service and mot while using it and had no engine, dpf etc issues.

Back in the olden day's (60's) it was common place for adding a shot of Redex with a gallon of petrol. There was a dispenser at every pump & a person to refuel your car Thumbs Up Never did any harm as its supposed to be an upper cylinder lubricant to prevent coke build up on the valves. Things have moved on a bit since then but it wont do any harm. My F-type is off the road for six months during the winter & I top it up with fuel then add a fuel stabiliser. Always starts first time but its probably a placebo effect rather than doing anything, but as long as I think its doing something I'm Very Happy
When I was a lot younger Iused to pour it into the carbs of my Lotus producing loads of white smoke from the exhaust. Always swore it added another 20 bhp Rolling with laughter in my mind that is

I've used Wynns in all my diesel cars over the years - maybe once every 6 months or so.

It helps to clear the injectors, remove any deposits, etc. Thumbs Up --

Wynns have been going for yonks - they wouldn't have done if their stuff didn't work or it broke engines. I'd be less confident about any unbranded stuff.

When I worked at Heathrow, any partly-used cans of hydraulic fluid got handed around to do the same job as Redex (don't try this at home, kids).

I use millers diesel eco max at a fill up and around every 3 months, wynns extreme diesel cleaner. Probably no need but then no harm if it has any cleansing effect etc. No prob over 50k miles nor in 90k before in my old evoque 2.2.

Thanks for all the feedback gents - my mind is somewhat at ease now so I'll wait till I refuel and add it in!
The Millers Diesel Eco Max looks good value for money in comparison - add 50ml per 50l and with 500ml bottles on sale for more or less the same price as the Wynns gives 4 tank fulls rather than 1.
If all goes well once I add it I'll purchase some of it.
Will update this thread in a few weeks if I notice any difference in throttle response, MPG etc.

Not the same product, but here's something I've noticed when recently not adding additive to my tank. I use Archoil AR6900-D with each tankful on my RSS and Wife's Evoque, largely in the hope it helps cleaning the DPF with doing short runs, and have done for a couple of years. I only fill every other month (I work away from home) but a week ago both our cars needed filled on the same day so we just filled without additive (I was wondering if the economy was dropping so thought I'd see if the additive was making any odds - slim chance of noticing really I guess). Over the last couple of days I've been thinking my RRS sounded a bit more tractor engine sounding so was hoping no issue's were cropping up, but today I drove the Evoque and mentioned to the wife that it sounded a bit more clattery aswell, and she agreed - then it dawned on me we both never added the AR6900-D.

Maybe coincidence, I'll add AR6900-D to the next fills and see if there's any noticeable difference. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

I always use BP Ulitimate, however there was quite a big thread on one of the sister forums about 2T.

yeah I add a bit of 2 stroke oil now and then.

To lubricate the pump and injectors.

SRE, That's a very interesting article. I am working my way through it. He seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject. I am going to add 0.3L of Liqui Moly No. 1052 on my next fill up. Will update in due course.

I have started putting 2 stroke in my 2005 Full Fat and I think that the engine sounds quieter. Not too sure that it gives any additional mileage but after reading the benefits over on the Disco site there are those who swear by it.
