Where exactly does the SIM card fit into? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Hi,

In a 16 MY it fits in the RH side of the dash.

Dealer has said that it is my SIM. My EE sim is the multi size one. You have to snap out the surround to reduce the size to the SIM you need. It can go down one smaller. Dealer is saying these do not fit properly, you have to get the SIM that is the correct size. I thought ALL SIMS were now designed like this.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? What SIMs do other people use?

Seems stupid, sims are a standard size, micro, nano or full sized.
It even says on their site-

Quote:
To fit a micro SIM card, insert the card with the contacts facing up and the shortest end facing out. The card should not be protruding once correctly inserted.

So any micro SD card should fit.

Most providers use these snap out variety now and I've never had a sim not fit a phone.

Hi,

I've know the little "pips" left around the sim when it's snapped out to cause a problem in a SIM carrier.

Judicious use of a craft knife or ladies nail emery board to smooth the edge has cured it.

As the SIM in a 17MY pushes straight in the slot, it could be your issue.

Worth a punt I'd say.

is anyone just using their phone's data for the internet connectivity for the car by the use of the phones Hotspot setting, LR say it can be done.

CONNECTIVITY

Connectivity methods include:

Wi-Fi Hotspot: Creates a Wi-Fi Hotspot in the vehicle, to allow connection of Wi-Fi equipped devices, e.g., tablet, laptop, smartphone, etc., to the internet. Also allows sharing of media between the Wi-Fi equipped devices inside the vehicle.

Wi-Fi: Allows the vehicle to connect to the internet using an external Wi-Fi network.

Mobile Data: Allows the vehicle to connect to the internet via a mobile network, using a data-enabled micro SIM or nano SIM card.

Right, I think its sorted.
Despite many attempt be myself and dealer, I could not get the SIM to work. Dealer said faulty SIM, SIM supplier said nothing wrong with SIM. I confirmed this buy putting SIM in my phone and it worked.
So, I sourced an "adapter" that allowed the sim to be used in many appliances. I clicked the SIM out of its current adapter and put it in this stand alone adapter, and hey presto it works.
HOWEVER, the APP on the mobile phone seems to have stopped working when the SIM is fitted in the car, so I cannot put remote heating on, or use the remote lock and "find my car".
Solve one problem, and create another.
Probably some set up menu deep inside the settings somewhere. Why cant cars just have on and off switches now Smile
Anyone else experiencing issues ??

Funny you should say that.
If truth be known, it was my 13 yr old daughter who suggested changing the adaptor Smile

Hi,

I don't have a 17MY but the guidance at the link above says to remove "Gently press in and release"

Very Happy

I don't have my MY17 yet, and I didn't order it with the " In Control Connect Pro Pack" (all up around $2800.00) but still obviously have the In "Control Touch Pro" 10.2" screen.

I do wonder if I use my phone as a hotspot, would the connected navigation work and the browser work etc..?

I did order the in control apps so I can use my Spotify...

Hi Caerketton. What was the final solution?. I've tried three different cards, all on different networks, and although the card is read, & shows the network name, nothing happens for 20 mins then I get the message, "cannot connect check network settings". Any advice would be appreciatted. current 2015 hse dynamic, grey.
