Well...the modified-modified pads have masked the squeaking for now.

However, I'm now left with the smell of burning brake pads in the car and my NEW OSF disk looks like this after less than 300 miles...what a Censored piece of Censored

Remember, this is a CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR

Squeaky wheels/brakes on wheels rotation

Can anyone help my RRS has the squeaking brakes but my dealer says that it's not a warranty issue and i have to pay for new discs and pads
Can anyone provide any evidence that Land Rover are aware of the issue

They've developed a modified brake pad to mask the fault...evidence enough.

The very least they should be offering is to fit the modified pads....FREE.

Did the chap you spoke to at the dealership look like this by any chance?!.

Wurly,
There is evidence on Topix so Land Rover do know about it. You don't mention the age or mileage of your car though. If it's still under Land Rover Warranty and you have informed them as soon as you heard it then climb into them as others including myself have had pads ( modified ) fitted under warranty and clearly they are not supposed to squeal!!! Thumbs Up Good Luck.

Sorry forgot to say,

Wurly, also you need to make sure that the original pads are still in your car or if your car has had pads changed that they were done by a LR dealership and you have evidence to the fact with consideration of mileage done since being renewed but again should be covered by warranty.

thank you all for your help as reference.

yes my pads and discs were fitted by land rover. I spoke with land rover customer service and asked them to explain to me when I have land rover warranty and MOT warranty how is it not covered. My car had just had its service and first MOT passing the MOT no issues. (ie brake problems). I stated that I am sure they are aware of this problem.

I am now happy to confirm that I received an excellent service from both customer service which agreed to cover the cost and the dealer.

Hopefully no more squeaks !!!!!!

Wurly, I would find a different dealer if that's their attitude, it's known about and I bet they will claim regardless! Censored John

They all seem to be consistently Censored ....they're just like my kids, their first response to pretty much everything is to say NO! and a battle is needed.....unless of course there's something in it for them!

My brakes squeal a little at times but the good news is they work very well as brakes! Get over it guys the important issue is the brakes work . Many cars can have brake squeal it isn't a RR design issue as they don't make the brakes. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Many cars, at this price point, can have squealing brakes?

LR don't make tyres either. Let's say if the factory fitted tyres have excessive road noise (but have good grip, which is their primary purpose) would that be acceptable too? You can apply the same logic to most parts because they are not designed/made by LR. It is their responsibility to quality check everything they fit/supply. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone
Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory
Gone: MY09 RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black/Almond

We could probably go backwards and forwards here but quality the Brembos are , as for tyres if the car came with F1 grip with noise I'd accept and if I didn't like the noise I'd change the tyre's or ask for a change before purchase. What does Pee me off is the things that should work and are RR responsibility . M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Yes, but tyres have a noise rating and LR will evaluate tyres and decide the best compromise for the model.

Brake squeal is not acceptable on a 'luxury' vehicle. Does 'copper grease' still ised these days? Gone:
