Service Woes II

Hi all, Can anyone help with this problem. On picking up my RRS TD6 from its 1st service I developed an Engine Management Warning.

I returned the car the next day while they run a diagnostic. This showed a fault on a fuel heat sensor. The part was ordered and I left. Within about 1 mile the fault code came back up and the car started running badly. Wouldn’t change gear when accelerating etc. Plus fuel consumption nearly halved.

Took the car back a few days later and had the new part fitted. Land Rover gives the dealer 1.5 hours to fit. Took the dealer 6.5 hours. They had never fitted one before and it was buried down in the V below the Injectors etc.

This cured the fault code but fuel consumption was still less than prior to the 1st fault? Took it back again and they found that a solenoid was the problem.

Again I found fuel consumption to be very poor. I am averaging below 20mpg around town and I am only getting only 23mpg at a steady 70mph on the Motorway. The car went back again yesterday fro a brim test i.e they fill it to the brim and measure mpg from fuel used. They have had the car on the computer and it's showing no fault so they are at a loss to what could be causing it????

Any ideas... Just aqquired a Silver HSE. Also have a TVR Tuscan

Have you zeroed your fuel consumption count, and then checked your fuel consumption again?

If you have done two or three hundred miles with a low fuel consumption average it can take a while to show any kind of increase on the trip computer. You need to zero everything and start from fresh. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Have you got all the relevant software upgrades?

Also, I wouldn't rely TOO much on trip comp.

Brim your tank to the max, drive 100 miles or so the re-brim it.
