2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I collected the Defender from the specialists this afternoon and it looks like I'm going to have to knock on the head all thoughts of buying a new car next year if I want to use the Defender as it was intended.
While it will get through it's next MOT it is doubtful the Def will get through one in 2008 as there are signs of corrosion there and if I to keep it safe for offroading I will be looking at buying and having fitted a new chassis. Now this isn't as expensive as you might imagine, the problem is that when they take the body off they ALWAYS find loads of other things that need to be replaced and in effect you end up with a full rebuild = ££££££££££££££££ Last winter I had the rear 1/3 of the chassis replaced as the rear cross-member was suffering from severe tinworm, and all in that cost £375 which was reasonable.
My Def is now 10 years old. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Is it me or is 10 yrs not an overly long time for a Defender to be heading off to the green lane in the sky?

The Def is OK, it's just the chassis - LR stopped fitting galvanised chassis about 20 years ago to save on costs.................. mine is just a youngster but it does get pretty heavy offroad use so I suppose I'm paying the price now 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

MDP - after finding that I will be needing a new chassis for the Defender in the next 12-18 months it's no new RRS next year if I want to keep the Def running.
Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I could sell the Def but wouldn't get as much for it, but if I spend loads of dosh and upgrade to a galvanised chassis and put on new suspension then I will have to keep the RRS or trade down (F2??) not up and save some money and keep the Def for at least another 2 years to recover the cost of the work on the chassis. Life is cruel! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Fiona - sounds just the thing for me - I hate polishing cars, don't mind washing them though........................ have heeps of polishing kits in my garage - Zymol, Maguiers etc all gathering dust. Don't know why I buy them coz I never seem to get round to using them! Smile Maybe I'll apply some Zymol clay bar and Zymol Polishes to my Def over the winter as it deperately needs to have the scratches polished out.

Tim are planning to get TDV8
