Well only owned the car for two weeks and only the second time I have been out for a longish run.
Strange as I was on my way to the garage where I bought it from with my old Range Rovers ownership documents, it was a slow 30 mile run but we got there.
No mechanics working today so it is being looked at first ting in the morning and I am home with a new Discovery – god they feel small compared to the old ones.
Will wait and see what the fault and repair solution is and will update.

The 3.0 has known issues with the turbo changeover valve (I forget it's correct name )

There is a TSB with modified parts to effect a repair. It'll be fine

Well the garage phoned today and say will deliver it back tomorrow.
They say the fault was with the DPF sensor which they have changed, They would deliver it back and give it a run to make sure it was running OK 30 miles to me.

Will wait and see - does this sound right ?  Lot of Landcruisers now sold

It's possible. If he DPF system can not be monitored correctly, the car will shut itself down to minimise emissions/soot etc going down the exhaust, to prevent the DPF from blocking up

Only one way to find out

Should I use better fuel, last time I filled up was at Tesco's or is there any additives that will help this.
It may have just been a bad sensor.

Another one for ye though, I was on Topix last night and saw that my car is due some software updates - can you do these or does if have to go to the dealer.
Saying that I think they are due but not that clear as it was just a list.

I used to run a Toyota Auris (2.2 T180 D-CAT) with a DPF, and I was told to use a decent quality fuel, and I wouldn't have any issues.

And in all honesty, I didn't. But having talked with a few guys "in the know" they tell me that all fuels are EXACTLY the same, expect the premium fuels.
Same additives, same mixes, same containers...

Who knows

If there are software updates listed in ToPIX, then these will most likely be done FOC at the dealer, either as a recall, TSB, or Service Action
It does seem a bit odd that they have not been done if the car was just in for a repair

They may have been done, I just presumed that if they showed up it was because they had not, but I don't know.

As for fuel - I was told the same thing and work with a lot boys who worked in the refineries and they say that they are the same just picked up by different company trucks.

I will probable keep using supermarket fuels as the wife works for one and she gets discount.  Lot of Landcruisers now sold

Just had mine in at the dealers to investigate Restricted Performance problems when covering long distances when the car has been cruising for about 2 hours.

They say the problem was a leaking CVS valve which has been replaced

I'm not convinced, but let's see if it re-occurs during a 750 mile round trip next weekend

Well I was right not to be convinced by the dealer's diagnosis.

Cruising on the A1 M just south of Peterborough this afternoon and the red triangle appeared again. Car goes back to dealer next week but getting really p!ssed off now at the dealer's inability to correctly diagnose the fault
