Upgrading from RRS1 to RRS2

As far as I have noticed there have only been 2 or 3 owners with older style SDV6 models upgrading to RRS2 latest model. Perhaps more forum members who are upgrading should use the forum first to sell their older RRS rather than trade in with a dealer. After all it is generally better to negotiate with cash than part exchange.

I have a 2011 TDV6 HSE 36,000 and wondering whether to upgrade to 2012 SDV6 model with less miles or change marque. Reliability always at the back of my mind for RRS. RRS2 models way too expensive for me.

I did advertise mine here: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic41319.html

Zero interest on the forum but luckily I got an excellent part exchange price. The car disappeared (presumed sold) from the Approved Used section of LR website a few days after the dealer put it on sale. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone
Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory
Gone: MY09 RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black/Almond

Yours and Ady's were the ones I was referring to. Timing was not right on either as out of the country.

The problem with cars like this is that people want to buy from dealers for peace of mind, even if the car is still under warranty (like mine was). Also, buying privately means either with cash or arranging finance independently whereas dealer finance is easy. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Unfortunately mine has been put back again until end of October now but at least I have an identical loaner - why they just didn't give me that and replace it with mine is beyond me Rolling Eyes

Thanks, ,maybe a possibility but do I throw circa £10,000 plus mine to go to last of the 2012 old style with lower mileage when my TDV6 with 35k is in perfect condition and drives beautifully.

Following options being considered :

1. Stay with current vehicle and continue to have Warranty Direct full warranty.
2. Change to 2013/14. Mercedes ML350 low mileage
3. Change to new Discovery Sport as Muddywheels has done. Knowing that a DS is not a RRS plus I need a lot of carrying space hence my change from Freelander 2 in the first space.
4. Keep mine until RRS2 comes down to the £40k or so budget , but mileage might be too high then. Also still not convinced about RRS2.

I still think there is a market for a RRS1 size vehicle, 5 seats not 7, comfy, Dynamic mode for cornering, no lower diff gearbox option, (Defender country only). Lose some weight and complexity. AND ABOVE ALL MOVE UP THE VARIOUS RELIABILY INDEXES.

I want a vehicle long distance comfy cruiser. Tows well, good in snow and grass and
, minor flooding no more than 14 inches.

2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Firenze Red

Interesting thoughts and here's my 2p's worth.....

I was a cash buyer of mine (over 30k) so for me it wasn't a problem buying either from a dealer of pricately, however I think once you get past a certain figure people want piece of mind buying from a dealer or financing options.

I think selling through the forum has some distinct advantages- you can search by poster and read up on any niggles or problems they've had and whether they have been honest about it being fixed or sorted,

However given my experience (especially on some Audi forums I was on) people do want top £ for their vehicles with less room to negotiate compared to a dealer.

For me (and most things in life) do,your homework and as long as you feel you haven't over paid and are happy with the result then all is good.

Hi - as you have been following my posts performance has not been something that I have ever felt wanting from my RRS. Sure if I could improve the MPG by re-mapping by say 5MPG then yes might be worth considering but have to weigh that against changing base car for insurance and warranty purposes.

Anyway we still have our meet up to discuss these various things at the 'No Name' later in the month or November.

Also interesting final solution to my post 'Help Stuck in France' which I am just about to update.
