England 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Thanks for the opinions guys, I'm still swaying towards the V8 but I'm going to keep my options open.

I'll take a look at a few more and see what suits. Still undecided at the moment on interior colour, need to see some more. Once our busy period is over I'll have to go travelling and see what's out there.

Thanks again!

Are you looking at the 2.7 or 3.0TDV6?

I have no complaints from my 3.0TDV6 - and that's coming from a Boxster. Loads of torque that makes driving a pleasure.

Hi,
The TDV6 2.7 or the 3.6 TDV8.

I'll be upgrading to the 3.0 TDV6 in a couple of years.
Thanks for your input on the 3.0 though, much appreciated. Thumbs Up

Don't forget the noise too. The TDV8 sounds very good for a diesel. I think if you drove both back to back then your mind would be made up straight away. I've managed 550 miles from a tank of diesel so IMO there can't be much saving to be made on fuel by going with the V6.

tdv8 sounds a lot better and goes a little better and it about the same on fuel, eirlier v6 would be cheaper than v8 on road tax and you dont get turbo problams very often on tdv6, hope this helps my v8 now gone and tdv6 sat outside

I also found my TDV8 the same on fuel if not better at times due to it struggling less, the TDV6 always has to be 'on point' to overtake and given the beans more often whereas the TDV8 always feels like it's got enough left in the tank if needed.

If you need another little push towards the TDV8 ; don't overlook the massive Brembo brakes on the front that are really impressive at stopping such a heavy car. Very little pedal pressure is required and yet in true Brembo tradition the action is progressive.

Some say the TDV6 is underpowered and underbraked but I've never heard that said about the TDV8 Laughing 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

MY07 TDV6 has Brembos - I know, I love 'em Very Happy

Recently saved me on the A66 doing a spirited overtake (using forward planning and momentum Wink ) shaved off enough speed when I spotted the scamera van on the side of the road - I was able to continue my overtake safely but within the NSL, awesome Very Happy

3 weeks and no NIP Whistle

The Brembo's were standard fitment to all HSE (2.7, 3.6 and 4.2 - no surprise there!) models in '07 they are not fitted to the S or SE models of the 2.7 but they are fitted to the HSE.

The car would have to have Brembo brakes either way, because if I put a larger wheel on then I couldn't have the teeny tiny brakes on show.

Finger crossed Pufftmw! Laughing

Good thing about the V8 is that is comes in basically S/C spec (and with the lovely sounding V8!) so it has all of the toys - Fridge ACC etc. but then it has areas like Turbos and ARC!

Would have been nice if Land Rover could have build a solid car then the descisions would be easier Whistle

MikeG - No problems mate, welcome! To be fair with your head you buy an ML, Q5, Q7 or X5 (oooh look they're all 2 letters lol!) You buy a Range Rover with your heart. Have you got a warranty? What else can you tell us about you acquisition? Spec Colour? Tell me it's not my unicorn car of Java Black 3.6 with Ivory leather, Sunroof and rear entertainment because I won't be happy! Mr. Green

Yes have managed to get a 12 month warranty. Its black, no idea what black that might be lol, and its the 3.6 v8. Has it a sunroof? Cant remember. Its got the black leather, not ivory im afraid. Smile
It definitely doesnt have rear entertainment, but my son has already stated it needs tv's in headrests etc. haha. Is the Harmonn Kardon sound standard fit?

Sounds great. I'm sure you'll be fine with it. It'll be Java Black. Harmon Kardon is standard on RRS, the Logic 7 system was an upgrade. I think you can tell the Logic 7 if the car had audio controls by the window switches in the rear doors.

Let me know how you go on when you collect the car Thumbs Up

Will do. Picking it up at 2pm tomorrow. Trading my Astra VXR J in against it. Giving up a 1yr old car with lifetime warranty lol. I must be mad.

Dont suppose you know if they come with towbar wiring already fitted? I need it for towing sometimes. Hence reason for buying RR. Thumbs Up

The V6 can be tuned to be as quick as the V8 is standard.
But a decent remap transforms the V6 into what it should have been from the factory

But then the V8 can be mapped to 320bhp...

My V6 certainly isn't slow, and has surprised many hot hatches Whistle

What do you mean? I have a TDV6 too...how to make it faster and more than 200km/h Laughing Shocked Razz
