Turned out to be a new short engine ouch ! Apparently only one of the pistons was still connected to the the crank. I'm told the new block is supplied with the crank from the 3 litre engine which is much stronger.

Did you find out what caused the engine to go bang ? and im assuming it was originally a private sale if you had to pay for this after 8 weeks |

As disco_mikey said it could have possibly been a badly fitted oil filter and the time scale since having a service and going bang could possibly be down to that maybe |

If it was at my local garage around the corner I'd have checked this out thoroughly, but it's a specialist whom I trust. I know the lads in the workshop, they know their stuff. |
