4 wheel alignment

I put four new tyres on my 2010 TDV8 about two months ago and I am feeling a bit jittery about alignment and wearing the tyres more quickly than need be due to possible misalignment. I believe that I need a 4 wheel alignment. Can someone please recommend somewhere in the North West, possibly Preston or Lancaster area that is competent to do this on an RRS? There are the issues of setting the car in 'tight tolerance mode' and adding weights to consider.

Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

I read up on this recently as my car needs it, there are a few topics dotted around here, and a few horror stories of places getting it wrong, too.

It seems if you use an independent, you want one with a Hunter machine. From Hunters website I found a local bodyshop, but they said they are not equipped to do RRS.

In the end, I booked it in the stealer @ £144. I have since found out that Direct Tyres in Newbridge Lane, Stockport do it, as recommended by my local indy. He said circa £50 might be typical if no complications.

I found recommended by someone on the forums this site to find a Hunter agent: http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/

Yes, you need to put it in tight tolerance mode. No, you don't need to add weights - just fill the fuel tank to capacity. The weights are only needed if the tank is partially filled. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Presumably they haven't got the widget for putting the vehicle in to tight tolerance mode. Good to see they are being honest about it.

(Or they may not have a ramp with the capacity to lift the RRS) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thanks for the input. Any other ideas anyone? Stockport isn't too bad for me, about 60 miles, so a bit closer to Preston/Lancaster would be great.

Thanks

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Bali Blue

one of the best Indies in the North east is Team Valley landrover, they do a heap of work on Range rovers, i have been there a couple of times and find the guys really helpful. All of the guy's that run the place were previously at Stratstone landrover at Lemington so they really know their stuff as i said. They only ever use genuine landrover parts for their service / repair work and they are a good bit cheaper than a stealer.
Amongst other things they also do 4 wheel alignment, as the name suggests they are located at Team Valley in Gateshead.... check out their website for info.
I certainly would not go elswhere to have work done. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Whitby..... your almost a foreigner !!, i regard the North east as a 10 mile radius of Newcastle Laughing Laughing

I do see your point though, 60 miles is a bit of a trip just for wheel alignment 2010 RRS, TDV8

Update: I have booked the car in with DP Tyres at Wigan for this Thursday to have a four wheel laser alignment on the Hunter thingamibob. They also have the device to set it in tight tolerance mode but when I asked about the need for a full tank of fuel the guy checked and said that he didn't know anything about that.

Can someone please tell me where this is specified? Of course I can fill it up on my way there but I am a bit concerned that they don't know about this.

All help appreciated.

So, I was well impressed by DP Tyres, two pleasant lads that seemed to know what they were doing. The Hunter initially showed some "red" results but not only did they adjust these out but they also pulled all the greens into the centre of the spec limits. Took about 50 minutes all-in, £72. I would reccomend them.

For completeness, the bit about filling the fuel tank or placing equivalent weights in the car comes from the workshop manual. My local tyre place has a rack of various weights next to their alignment ramp. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
