I've recently been driving in Spain through an area with a very high pollen count. I would like to locate the pollen filter in my 2006 sport and, if it is possible, give it a clean. I would be grateful of any advice! Andrew Andrew Kennedy

Behind the glove box. Open it and then push down on the levers either side and the glove box when it will drop down further. Look behind and above the glove box (a torch helps) and you will see a rectangular door which is latched at one end. Remove the door and in the cavity now exposed you will see the pollen filter at the top; just pull it out. Not sure how effective cleaning it will be. Good quality activated charcoal filters can be found (in the UK anyway) for about GBP10. There is a video here which shows you the process of changing the filter if my description is not clear. Airflow comes from above (switch the fan on and you'll feel it drawing air downward). On some filters the arrows showing airflow direction are printed on the moveable flange so you can make them point in either direction
I think the filter should be orientated with the flanges at the bottom to help provide a seal but TBH the filter looks symmetrical so may not be all that important. No doubt someone will be along in a minute with the definitive answer. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
