Help what have I done?

due to a puncture, (n/s rear) i have accidentally jacked the car up on a section of the car that is NOT the chasis rail. Embarassed Having smashed the plastic cover, further investigation reveals a cast iron bracket inside the plastic housing, has sheared off. Q. what does this support as there is dreadful noise on start up. Question 2nd Q. do I get LR assist or do i get the car to a dealer in the AM Question Question My 2010MY RRS 3.0 TDV6SE is Nara Bronze with Almond leather, straight grain walnut trim, 20" 15 spoke alloy's, mood lighting and power fold mirrors Gone

Id definitley go for LRAssist. After all your car has the original warranty so if they decide to recover it in the dealership. You will get a like for like car. Which probable if the dealer keeps it in after youve driven it there youll get a not so good car !

You've jacked it up on the air suspension pump and broken the bracket holding it on. The dreadful noise is the pump, if you're unlucky then that's knackered as well. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

I have never got the AA, RAC etc out in the past to change a wheel, and always stop for a damsel in distress Whistle , but the advice I was given when I got my car is do not attempt to do it yourself! Get LRA out! Apart from the wheels weighing a ton, and punctures always happen in the wet!, you really need a trolly jack to safely lift it's 2.5 ton frame!
Cheers

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 Autobiography Nara Bronze

A tyre company done this to my D3 a while ago. I even showed the fitter where the compressor was and warned him to be careful where he put the trolly jack. Being a complete dick it went in one ear and out the other and he jacked up on it, this caused the D3 to suddenly drop when the compressor and bracket gave way. Damaged it to the tune of just over £1000,00. 2017 Range Rover Sport Autobiography

deep joy! LR assist in place for an early morning review (prior to recovery as per the process) and then its over to the stealer for repair. Now I know its knackered I have remove the cover and can see the remains of the bracket. If its only that piece then not so bad, however, the ominous groaning noise suggests otherwise. Result! Very Happy LR assit (John) had a spare compressor bracket on board and swapped it all over for £65.00. I have orderd a lower half plastic shroud for £30.00 as the lugs on the original all snapped off, which i can fit myself. The only downside is the offending pucture cannot be repaired so I am out the price of a tyre thats only 2,000 miles old Big Cry My 2010MY RRS 3.0 TDV6SE is Nara Bronze with Almond leather, straight grain walnut trim, 20" 15 spoke alloy's, mood lighting and power fold mirrors Gone

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

It would still be worth getting the car into a dealer for a check over. I would do it just for the peace of mind that something else like a pipe had not been damaged.
It is amazing that after 7 years of production of Discos and 6 of RRS there are still tyre fitting companies out there that are unaware of how to jack up a car with air suspension, the guys that I use learned the hard way too, fortunately not on any of my RRS's or FFRR's! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
