Know where you are coming from on the price thing, I stopped at Michelwood services on monday and stuck just enough in to get back here and it was nigh on £1.50 a litre.

I tried the Tesco 99 ron stuff... engine threw up the reduced engine performance warning that only cleared after about 8-10 miles of driving (50mph on dual carriageway)... not sure if this was some readjustment by the ECU that cleared it, but I have never used that fuel since.

totally agree. I know lots of people have lots of 'examples' of bad experiences, but I can't help thinking they are putting 2 and 2 together to make 5. Or to put it bluntly, convincing themselves they are seeing a difference for the extra pennies spent emperor's-new-clothes stylee. the question that should be asked is where do the supermarkets source their fuel from? ============ 2010 TDV8 HSE - ooo laa laaaaaaaaa 2007 TDV8 HSE - superb car and very reliable ============ 2012 - dearly departed, sadly missed.. to return in late 2013 with a new TDV8! |

I'm thinking the same due to the amount of Bull ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The quality of fuel does go up and down, depending on age & storage etc, diesel is prone to bugs and diseases as well ! With the 110 which has been chipped to within an inch of exploding and variable boosted I had to put nasty stuff in it as there was nothing else around for miles and it ran like a lump of poo, missing and coughing, got red hot etc, got that crap out of it and within 2 miles it was better. With me bike which has got a Dynojet Power Commander on it I cant run it at it's optimum settings on the ECU due to detonation and temperature problems but put nice petrol in it + a bit of octane boost and it runs like a Swiss watch albeit a very noisy watch mind. When it was originally programmed on the rolling road with decent fuel it was making a pant filling 200.2 BHP at the rear wheel and on full chat with the cam verniers set right looks like it's got an after burner with a foot long blue flame coming out the exhaust....... 08 2.7 RRS "S" Td5 110......very modified RS 5 Kawasaki ZX12R ![]() |
