Dave

Ive narrowed it down to either this Kona PHD;

or this Cannondale Bad Boy;

I like the look of the Cannondale but the spec of the Kona is in a different league.

Cant be doing with all those droopy handlebars at my delicate age Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Thumbs Up to Kona; spec. makes Cannondale look poor value. I'm guessing you didn't like the Specialized Sirrus or the Trek 7.* range?

DrL - I looked at both the Trek and Specialized and they are both really good value for money, but if i bought either, within a couple I'd always wish I'd spent more money. For me its a bit like buying the SE but really wanting the HSE lol! So Im going to shell out on the Kona Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Two others you might want to look at just to confuse you even more are the chris boardman and pinnacle (exclusive ) to evans) both are high spec bikes for the money. Agree that the kona is nicer spec( and I dare say a good bit lighter) I have a bianchi centostrade 105, with an upgrade to mavic cosmos wheels after I shredded the rear one last week, oops!! MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged Wink ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps!

Cheers Dave - that Bianchi is the dogs danglies!

Thanks for the heads up on the Boardman and Pinnacle. Havng to buy from Halfords put me off the Boardmans but I'd forgotten about Pinnacle, they look good value and get good reviews too. I'll check them out.

Im off for a final slug around the block on the MTB before it goes this week! Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

A month on, and I'm now looking at bikes too - what did you plump for in the end, Bradders? Or are you waiting for the announcement of 2012 models and the resukting discounting of 2011 ones?

Bought a Ghost 7900 Hybrid, 2010 model last week - got £500 off list price.

What a difference from the mountain bike - super light weight, air suspension, top notch Shimano XT gears, brakes etc.

This is it in the shop when I went to colect it last week. Its a bit dirtier now!

£699 rather than £1199 is a very good discount - looks an easier transition from a Mountain bike than some of the more road-biased hybrids. Not bad weight for the class of bike. Thumbs Up

Couldn't commit on a hybrid, so hoping to complete a deal on a decent road bike- Specialized Roubaix Expert - next week. List price is more than my first car, but it's a stonker and almost half the weight of my current ride. Have had to promise my family that I'll obey a no Lycra policy, though.
