4 year service

My 4 year old TDV6 HSE 26K miles requires a service, and the four year one is quite a big one would I be right?

Its got full LR service history by me to date, but could I get it done at Kwik Fit or similar instead of using a main dealer. Kwik Fit seem to reckon they can do it for £250odd, whereas LR in Sidcup are quoting over £500.

Its a minor amount of money, but still its £250. Would it be irresponsible to go for the cheaper option.

i would not trust quick fit with replacing screen wash! the oils etc will be dirt cheap rubbish and not all the filters will be changed,
best thing to do is find a good landy specialist, they usually do a good service at the same price as kwick fit. Thumbs Up
im sure some one on here can recommend somewhere local to your self.

Having seen the watchdog tv report on Kwikfit last year i wouldn't trust them with a clapped out banger.
Try and find an independant specialist as an alternative to a main stealer, a far better option than a bunch of tyre fitters.

sorry guys disagree

my local branch of kwick fit done an oil change used special ordered in oil, used a LR oil filter, topped all my fluids up , done far better oil change than my stealers's spotty little apprentice doing it

so im afraid to say its down to the person who works at kwick fit . I watched all the work being done and the guy was perfect

ALL FOR THERE STANDARD OIL CHANGE PRICE OF 49.99 Thumbs Up

BRANCH WAS KWICK FIT IN STONE NEAR DARTFORD Thumbs Up

Due to bad press I think they have all now have changed how they do things

Well if i went to buy a RRS that said FSH as always i'd check the service book and if it had been stamped once by kwick fit i would walk away from the vehicle and so would anyone else i guess Shocked very quickly, Mr. Green

everone has there own way of servicing

main point is that Certain major services should be undertaken at dealer

unless u have a very good mechanic

oil change is nothing so can be done elsewhere , i change mine every 3-4 months at that price so i would say i have mine very well maintained

all the hype on FSH is load of bull you dont get any more at part ex i asked my dealer and he said if you dont have it you only get 500 knocked off so, against £1000.'s u pay is it worth it ? People get into this rut ,

find a top notch mechanic get it serviced regulary you cant go wrong

THE MAIN FACTOR YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED MAIN STEALER OR TOP NOTCH MECHANIC

Well i personally wouldn't buy any car that hasn't got a full service history, you are reducing the chances of selling your vehicle without it. Anyone with any sense wouldn't buy a vehicle such as a RRS without a full dealer/LD independent service history Shocked i don't see the point in spending all that money buying one only to save a few quid maintaining properly. Thumbs Up

FSH wouldnt bother me, not worth the paper its printed on IMHO. All that states is the engine oil has been changed, which isnt a service in my eyes...

A service book is also meaningless, unless it is accompanied by a receipt for said service. Anyone can go into a garage, hand over some beer tokens, and hey presto, FSH... Rolling Eyes

Would much rather see a wad of receipts etc to back up any parts/work done...

I am a mechanic myself, and as such, do all my own work. I could stamp my own service book, but I wont, as I feel its not really right. However, i do have receipts for 000's over the years for all the parts that have been replaced, which, IMO is much more important Thumbs Up

big service is the one where the cam belts get changed...this is done at 105,000 miles

dealer will charge about £850, there a few previous posts on this and I think one specialist was charging about
£500..parts are additional and about £200

there are 2 belts to change...cambelt at front and fuel pump belt at back

if cambelt breaks you can screw your engine up.if the rear belt breaks you just stop. i bought 2 tools of ebay, cam belt timing bolts and fan removal tools, did the job myself in a weekend and it runs like a dream...and to be honest it isnt a difficult job. Only did the cam belt...will get around to do the other sometime...condition of the belt removed was fine

yes, as the rubber in the belt degrades over time, hence why the interval is 105k or 7 years, whichever comes first
