I believe Diesel engines require 950A, petrol only 850A.

I changed my battery a month back on my 4.2 Petrol SC and opted to fit the larger 950A expecting it to be quicker to turn over in the cold.

BATTERY AMP INFO

HI THERE DAZZERBOY CHECKED BATTERY FOR HERES INFO

ORIGINAL FACTORY -DELPHI 90AH 825amps

BOSCH S4 013 - 95AH 800amp

basically fitting a battery with a slightly hi AH WILL INCREASE THE INITIAL STARTING OF THE CAR AS IT IS HAS A SLIGHTLY HIGHER CRANKING POWER.

I used to run a fleet of lorries and we always fitted higher AH batteries with big engines as it drains the battery less especially in cold weather.

petrols sports are fitted with 75AH and diesels are fitted with 90AH batteries from factory, so fitting either a Bosch S4 013 or if you want to spend more a BOSCH S5 013 one has 4yr warranty and other has 5 yr warranty you will not go wrong and should have no problems, and Bosch warrantys are first class , hope this helps regards td6006 Thumbs Up 2005 HSE 2.7 RRSport loaded with 2010 goodies

So its fine to fit the higher 950A battery to a Supercharged ?

Mine is a factory spec battery (75ah 690 Amp Delphi) and I had a Varta 80ah 800 amp in mind but might opt for the extra power if there is a benefit ?

I measured the dimensions of my battery and found that its not as long as the Varta ones for example. Mine is 310mm whereas the Varta are 345mm. Anyone know if the longer battery will still fit into the tray, save me pulling the cover etc again?

Which battery did you fit please?. The Varta 950 amp on eBay is 345mm long whereas my standard one is only 300mm long. Is yours longer and still fits the S/C?

Hey Carlos,

I have uploaded some iphone pics of the battery mounted in my 2005 SC to my gallery. I have tried to show the dimensions as best I can in the dark!

Basically, the LR018609 battery I bought from the LR is 345mm long and does fit in the tray without any modification. The fit is snug and I needed to put a slightly different bend in the negative wire to line up to the battery post but no big problem, a 5 minute job to change.

Glad I went for the bigger battery. Spins up really well from cold with no dimming of the interior lights or instruments.

Hope this helps,

Simon

Hi Simon

Thanks for that. The battery I have in mind is 345mm aswell so if it fits in your 05 S/C then I'm sure it will fit in mine aswell

I am going for a none LR battery but should still be ok. Its a 950 amp so hopefully my HDC error message that I get at every start for 2 seconds will go away

Thanks again

Carl

Forgot to ask, when the battery is changed on the RRS do any memory functions etc need to be reset or is it all ok ?

Which connection comes off first, positive or negative and do I reconnect the opposite way ?

Any tips welcome, such as leaving the car 5 minutes to completely shut down for example

Always remove the earth first... and on re-fit always connect the positive first.. that way if you should happen to touch your spanner on the body while removing/re-fitting it won't make BIG sparks Thumbs Up Cheers Paul
