Buying an RRS, advice appreciated

Morning All,

I'm looking to buy a RRS, have a budget of around £25K, but could stretch to £28/29k for the exact right car. It has to be diesel and top spec, so I guess I'd be looking at an 06 2.7HSE.

Does anyone have either a pdf or a web link where I can find out what the build spec of the RRS was around this time? I don't want to fall into the trap of for example buying a late 05 car only to find at some point later that in early 06 they came with cruise sat nav or some other goodies as standard!!

I'm planning to buy via the main dealer network, mainly so that I can get the 12 month Land Rover 'Approved' warranty for an under 5 year old car. Looks like I can upgrade this to a 2 year warranty at time of purschase, any idea how much this is roughly?

Any other advice or tips anyone can give on buying one would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thnaks,

Roy.

Welcome to the Forum Thumbs Up

If you can stretch to 28-29K then there are loads of 2007 2.7 HSE models on the Landrover Approved Vehicles search site. There are even some 3.6 V8 HSE's !! There are also some 2008 HSE's priced in the high £29k's, But of course, you'd never actually pay the sticker price anyway, so I'd have thought you could get an 08 for your money Thumbs Up Basic rule of thumb on spec is that main upgrades happen with each new Model Year but there are also usually some changes halfway through the year too.

Thanks for the message Enjin,

I've I found a very tidy 2006/06 at a local independent dealer in the exact colour combinations I'm after, 60k on the clock witha £24,995 screen price. Maybe a touch on the high side for an independent, more on par with LR main dealer prices, and if it was at a main dealer I would probably snap it up (after a bit of a haggle of course)!!!.

This one has heated seats front and rear, front and rear parking sensors and electric sunroof. Are these all standard on an 06 car do you or anyone know?

Many Thanks,

Regards,

Roy.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

Hi,

i was in the same boat.

and went for a 07 spec car (56Reg but make sure it is a 07 spec).

the 07 hse came with dynamic pack, which was 20" wheels, brembo brakes, & some suspension goodies.

also the cooler box is standard, and mine came with the adaptive headlights.

that's all i can remember but when buying getting the 07 spec model was a must due to the changes in that spec.

Thanks DSL, that why I'm convinced the only route to go is down the LR Main Dealer Route for a good 'Dealer Approved Warranty' and add the second year on. Are there are down points with the LR Used Approved Warranty do you know?

Regards,

Roy

Certainly on the D3 site the LR warranty don't get a good reputation, the cheaper one (select ISTR) is described as as useless as a chocolate teapot! I run 2 06MY D3s and have warranties through Warranty Direct, others use Warranty Wise, AA, etc. The reason I went for WD (after my most excellent Tesco warranties run out) is they cover wear & tear and have a good history of paying up. So far they have been very good and covered what the promise, my D3 has just had a worn out wheel bearing replaced today. Pays yer money etc, just don't run one of these veeeeeehickles without one as they can be complete cash cows.
