Keep this philosophy in mind the next time you hear, or are about to
repeat, a rumour.

In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his
wisdom. One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance that
ran up to him excitedly and said,

"Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?"

"Wait a moment," Socrates replied. "Before you tell me, I'd like you to
pass a little test. It's called the Test of Three."

"Test of Three?"

"That's correct," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my
student, let's take a moment to test what you're going to say. The
first test is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are
about to tell me is true?"

"No," the man replied, "actually I just heard about it."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or
not. Now let's try the second test, the test of Goodness. Is what you
are about to tell me about my student something good?"

"No, to the contrary..."

"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him
even though you're not certain it's true?"

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Socrates continued, "You may
still pass though because there is a third test, the filter of
Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be
useful to me?"

"No, not really."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither
True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?"

The man was defeated and ashamed, and said no more.

This is the reason Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such
high esteem.



It also explains why Socrates never found out that Plato was banging
his wife

TALE FROM A WOMAN!!


I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW
DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.

SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME
NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS NEARLY 40 YEARS AGO.

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?
UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.

THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO
OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.

AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK
HIGH SCHOOL.

"YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG," HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

"WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?" I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, "IN 1968. WHY DO YOU ASK?"

"YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!" I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY. THEN, THAT UGLY, OLD, WRINKLED, BALD, FAT,
GRAY, DECREPIT SON-OF-A-BITCH ASKED,

"WHAT DID YOU TEACH?"

A lady walks into a high class jewellery shop. She
browses around, spots a beautiful diamond bracelet
and walks over to inspect it.


As she bends over to look more closely she
inadvertently breaks wind.


Very embarrassed, she looks around nervously to see if
anyone has noticed her little accident and prays that
a sales person doesn't pop up right now.


As she turns around, her worst nightmare materialises
in the form of a salesman standing right behind her.


Cool as a cucumber and displaying complete
professionalism, the salesman greets the lady with,

"Good day, Madam. How may we help you today?"


Very uncomfortably, but hoping that the salesman may
just not have been there at the time of her little
'accident',


she asks, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely
bracelet?"


He answers, "Madam, if you farted just looking at it,
you're going to sh*t yourself when I tell you the
