That is a superb plate!

Get the car this saturday, quite looking forward to it now, then got the headache of trying to get the plate moved onto another car...

Got some asian chap from birmingham to move the car for me, said call it £80, so saved myself a oner there.. don't think he realised how far away it is, but he's agreed now!

No worries.. i am an asian.. my family originate from Pakistan in the mid my parents moved over to the Uk. I was born down the road from the LR Factory in Solihull..

Just got the money through for the car, quite looking forward to it now.
Going in the morning, so if any of you see a black RRS HSE heading down the M5 at about 11am tommorow, give me a flash and a wave. And if im heading northbound and you see a gold merc trashed at the side of the road on the M5, you know its fallen off the back of the transporter!

Just talking about something off another thread, but do you reckon i can use one of them cheapo £15 tow ropes from halfords with 3 tn handling to pull this merc with my RRS very short distances. May have to move the merc a couple of times to get it Mot'd etc, and it will save me money on transporter if i do so. Think the merc will be approx 1.5 tonne in weight..

Wouldn't advise it. As mentioned before your brakes on the Merc might not work! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

hmm good point.. will have to check it out i think..
my mates dad owns the pub/restaurant down the road, and offered me to stash the car round the back there if i need to clear my drive, so hence the need to move the merc, it is at the bottom of a hill though, so good point VA, saved me arse ending the RRS!

After all the ridicule and jokes my poor Merc 500SEC has attracted these last few weeks, im determined to now get the motor running and the car back on the road.

My aim is to get it running to drive to the 'LR Visit' day so you can all see what a top pimp motor it really is.. apparently its got over 250 bhp so should be quite a hoot to hoon around in, till the engine goes pop, if it lasts out the summer i'll be happy with my purchase!

Best £2700 i've ever spent, well will have spent im sure by tommorow evening.
1 owner with 146k miles on the clock, barely run in i would say!

Hmm.. took delivery yesterday,
Well picked it up anyway, all paperwork cool, sellers really nice and genuine..all checked out, got the car on transporter no probs, front brakes are working, just that the interior is really smelly and its engine is slightly sha**ed to say the least. Put water in the radiator and it Censored out of the tube at the bottom, battery is drained, so is on charge right now, when we rolled it onto the driveway the rear exhaust fell off (rubber clip was corroded).
Confident i'll get it started, and overall its definitely in good nick for the year - but needs some TLC.

I've started having some mad thoughts though, may try and do a project on it, mate it to a new engine (crashed donor vehicle of some sorts) stick in the transmission, exhaust and steering, get some AMG wheels second hand for it, and give it a nice new respray, and maybe a new leather interior, basically i need a rear shunted write off Merc or Bmw for that matter, minimum 4000cc engine. Think this could turn into something special.. a quick brush up and bit of oil is not looking likely.. oh well.. something else to fill the summer months with!

Either that or write into Westwood and try and get him to pimp my pimp motor! Im thinking the finished article could be something cool to use on the Gumball rally or something, just got to find someone who is actually entering it this year or next.

Nice touch!!

Like the pimp my ride idea! Stay with the original colour though......I like it, you don't see that on the road much anymore.

I doubt you will retain interest though once the RS4 is sitting on the drive Laughing Currently: Carbon Black 535d

Email sent to MTV, im not going to fill in their application form, sent an email with the pics i have of the car, now lets see if the dic*wad Westwood turns up at my door!!

Stuck in a new battery in the dragon (my new name for it) and all the electrics work on the interior, including the electric seats, the seat belt holders which come forward on an electric rail when you close the door and even the radio, i have a vintage NEC car phone in there too which must be an antique by now!?

Unforunately, no engine start now, i turned the fan belt by hand and pulled on the pulleys so there is movement there, but the starter motor isn't turning the engine, its just making a loud click click noise when i turn the key..
Hmm..

Have found a few guys breaking Mercs of this age with the 500 engine in it on ebay, but the wa**ers don't reply!! wtf is that all about??
Still liking the idea of wacking in a whole new mechanical setup out of a newer car and making this into something.. but its looking like a bigish job. May just have to tax it and leave it standing and transfer the plate later on .. and scrap the pimp mobile!! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Exclamation
