Guys..
I bloody went ahead and did it!!
right i can come clean now, as i've bagged it already. Basically 'Misery' on here sent me a PM attracting my attention to an interesting auction for the plate and car as above which was running at £700 at the time. I have during the last 3 days been researching into how i can get this plate off the car and think i have found a way (which i will report back on when it works for future reference for anyone facing the same problem). I held my ground, emailed the poor lady who is selling this car about a million times asking questions etc, and finnally came in 2 mins from the end and even though the reserve was set at £2500, i put in a false bluff bid of max of £5000 to counter any last minute outbids increments, and the bids and ebay auction ended at £2700 with me as the winner. Bit more of a risk then i had been planning to take before, but if it goes to plan, i won't have to do the car up at all, and can go through a plate transfer relatively easily, will just cost me the 6 months tax fee and maybe some moving costs.

Right now next question, anyone know anyone with either a car trailor which i can borrow and attach to the back of my RRS or a low loader who can recover the car for me from Cheltenham to South of Birmingham??
I will be travelling down and verifying the cars vin number against the logbook and to verify the cars eligibility to the plate as instructed by the DVLA. My dad surprisingly didn't think i had done too badly (which was what i was worried about a lot!).
Bitten the bullet now.. as if i didn't have enough on my plate!

Hehe.. yeah will do Dom.
Had to keep it quiet, there were enough people after it as it was, let alone if i pubicly announced it on a forum! would have every kam in the country bidding for it then!

Chuffed i secured it, but am a little worried now, what i am going to find when i go down there. My cousin who runs a cab company down in Dunstable, reckons the brakes may be seized which may require me to drag the car until the wheels move! or he said i may be lucky, if they have had it in good condition, the battery might just need replacing and then it might even fire into life! fingers crossed hey.. Still haven't handed over any money yet so we will haveto see.

Kam,

You can get cars collected/delivered relatively cheap now. I forgot where I last saw adverts for this - try Google and also have a look in AutoTrader (or their website) as I think these services are advertised in there. I think it costs only £75 or so. Matt

Mpox, Thanks.. will check it out.
The only thing is the brakes may be seized so it may not be such an easy job to move it as first thought.

What i need is one of the things the cowboys use when they tow away your car, and they pick up the whole car using the wheels.. anyone know what i mean..

I will be there anyway in person, so can always use the RRS and drag it until the brakes give way, and then let the truck pull it aboard. Now i may need to actually go and buy one of them tow ropes you were talking about before Matt.

Haha very funny chaps..
actually have been told that the current owners moved the car last year from one barn to the other and the wheels and brakes weren't seized, am hoping this is still the case. Next sat is the day i exchange money for the car, am hoping i haven't bought a complete wreck.

Some guy emailed me off ebay asking if i want to sell the SEC minus numberplate or if i wanted his SEC in running order for £1500 to use as donor for car parts for mine.. hmm good to have the safety net, plus may ask him if he wants mine for £500 after ive got the plate off it!

Just checked out the postcode this woman gave me for her house.
Its a named house, no number, and its an estate.
Checked it on multimaps (aerial photo) and its a large property with what looks like a mile long driveway and a large amount of land surrounding it.

Is looking more and more believable that these people are just simply loaded and hence didn't drive the car for ten years! probably had another 10 cars in that time at the same time to drive.

Having two barns kind of gave it away too.

Very Happy

Transport Company,

£184 inclusive everything, delivered to my door, insured, same day.
Other companies haven't got back to me yet... Bit more then i thought, but still seems good value, is about 60 miles from my house..
