Laugh...................

Coming back from Stirling along the fast and straight A811 I was mindimg my own business when a set of headlights appeared in the rear view mirror (it's 2pm!), something red and moving very very fast was coming up astern and it was being raced by something else with lights on, also overtaking everything on the road. Well the red car overtook me at some stupidly fast pace for the road and it turned out to be a Vauxhall Monaro VXR, with a big bore exhaust it sounded great as it accelerated away and then the driver realised he was rather quickly approaching a small roundabout, lots of downshifts, brakelights and browntousers I suspect. Then the other set of lights pulled in behind me and it turned out to be a very old Nissan Skyline, complete with body trim wobbling in the slipstrream. He was right on my tail coming into the roundabout and as the road was clear I shifted into commandshift and wellied the RRS. I looked in the rearview mirror and it appeared the driver of the Skyline had overestimated the tightness of the roundabout and I saw him desperately trying to catch a huge slide as he had put the power on a bit too soon or his turbos had cut in abit earlier than he had anticipated! I pulled off the roundabout and along the straight and it wasn't long before Skylineman had caught up and overtaken me and was trying to reel in the distance on the Vauxhall.............. about 4 miles further on I came over a slight crest of a hill and there lying in the road was a heap of blue front bumper and spoilers and the Nissan Skyline sitting in the adjacent layby as the driver ran back down the road to pick up his front trim panels...................................... Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter The Vauxhall was pootling along, stuck in a line of traffic doing 15mph behind a tractor! I suspect the Skyline had taken off on the crest of the little bump and landed slightly nose down! Sometimes having a big heavy 4x4 can be very useful 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sounds not far out, although I would have thought with restraint 26 was possible around town, depends on how often you try to burn up boy racers in Corsas................................. I average 27 in local fast A road driving and sticking nearly to the speed limit on the open road. On the m'way I can get the mpg up to 32/33 if I drive very carefully. RRS is heavier but supposedly more aerodynamic than FFRR. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The Monaro exhaust was brilliant, the Nissan almost silent despite the monster rear box that I could see. But niether sounded as good as Mis's S/C when he's in show off mode! BTW I was on the LR website looking at the 2010 FFRR and it claims there that the 2010MY S/C has had the supercharger whine engineered out by better manufacture techniques - hope they have left it in for the RRS version otherwise there will be a lot of Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry I mean whoever heard of a silent supercharger? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yeah, they've changed the vane design or something so that it no longer whines. I can only imagine that there are reasons for it other than taking the whine away Confused
