United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Sat Nav voice

Hi All,

am trying to work out how to turn off the audible instructions on the sat nav. And just do the ones when I touch the screen.

I've chosen what I think are the correct settings on the settings menu....but she's still chatting away to me quie happily.

Any idea how to fix this? To recap: I only want the sat nav to speak to me when I press the button on screen - and she should stay quiet at all other times.

Cheers

Tom

PS - it's a RRS TDV8 HSE (58 plate). 09- 58 plate, brand spanking, RRS TDV8 HSE, Black on black. Really enjoying it so far.

I assume this "button on the screen" that you push is the one that repeats the verbal instructions if you need to?
I don't think you can strangle her/him without loosing all verbal orders because if you turn the volume down on the screen than you also turn down the repeats of the instructions as well and obviously you want to keep that option. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

That's right Tim, I want the audible instructions button to work when press it - but for verbal guidance to be silent at all other times.

I can't find a way to achieve that. I.e. I choose what look like the right options in the Settings menu - and she just keeps chatting away anyway Smile 09- 58 plate, brand spanking, RRS TDV8 HSE, Black on black. Really enjoying it so far.

Activate the voice command function from the switch to the left of the steering column and say,

"Navigation, voice guidance off".

It works for me .... and I have a Scottish accent.

When you want it on say'

"Navigation, voice guidance on".

It really does work very well. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

Thanks guys, I think I've cracked it now by pressing a few more buttons...it was probably more obvious than I originally thought.

I've not tried any of the voice activation stuff yet *shudder* Smile 09- 58 plate, brand spanking, RRS TDV8 HSE, Black on black. Really enjoying it so far.

When you have sussed out what you did let us all know please Tom, that voice can be a pain at times!
This might seem a bit obvious but you do know that you can use the satnav without having any guidance don't you? ie it will just show a scrolling map without any route line or instructions 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It's actually quite simple:

On the screen which appears after you have pressed "Agree", it shows the 4 black boxes: Destination Entry etc. In the lower right hand corner there are 2 small icons. Press one to have voice activation on, press the other to have it off. Once off, you can then choose to hear the voice command at any time by pressing the lower right hand icon on any map screen, and it will provide you with the guidance you need.

Well, I just wanted to state that. I'm a technical dumbhead but even I found that function within seconds... Rolling Eyes Laughing

Arrow Perhaps that has something to do with the age: The over-sixties here may not be that good in using the satnav because it works like a computer and for you older guys that's a little too technically complicated maybe... Whistle
