Anti vandal glass film

Did anyone get the glass coated with anti vandal film (security foil)?
Can you post couple of comments (rough price estimates, application etc.) Does it really help?

I am thinking to get mine done with Armorcaot, however the guys said that i will do its job only on the windows were they can apply it fully (driver, passenger and two in rear).
The rest (boot windows) will not fulfill my requirement, because the film will not be able to hold the window in case of breakage.

Thanks for your comments...

I've had the Pentagon version of this fitted on previous cars, called Supaglass. All sized windows except front and rear screens. They can't do the rear screen because of the heated elements and the only thing that would prevent any others might be if there is a lot of curviture of the glass.

I suggest give Pentagon a call and they will advise you. Cost must be in the region of £700 by now at a guess.

It's good stuff and not only prevents theft from outside but also will stop the glass imploding in your face in an accident but still allows you to push the shattered glass out from the inside to effect an escape. TDV6 - gone

I am not sure to be honest. Especilly when it really works only on the "moving" windows.
Jay as you said it is a lot of money and the result?
Well I better do not want to know...

I had it fitted to small non moving windows on a Jag and a Merc. And all moving windows.

But it is a lot of money. Suppose it depends on where you park and how often your car gets broken into. TDV6 - gone

It's not really "anti-vandal" but security. It's meant to stop attackers smashing the side glass at the lights, or similar, and ripping your g/f's diamond necklace off (or worse!) Worst case is turning ignition off and grabbing the keys, then you are really in the sh*t if it's 2 in the morning in some dodgy area. Nothing, even security film will stop the hard-case vandal or thief, short of full diplomat-level armour. Good idea in today's worsening situation, in my opinion, when street-crime against the apparently privileged will inevitably increase.

I've had the Pentagon film fitted to our vans at work on side windows and front quarterlights. Anything i can do to stop someone trying to smash the windows at traffic lights and hijack my stock is a bonus as far as i'm concerned. Chose the pentagon one after taking part in a demonstration at the local merc dealers - after 5 minutes with a baseball bat i was still no closer to getting through the window very impressive ! 2005 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver Ebony Interior Sunroof, RSE, Side Steps

You are absolutely right guys, it is definitely a no brainer for me...
Now the question is to which windows shall I have it applied.
Jumbo, when you were at the demonstration, where you told/shown anything about the non moving windows i.e. boot side windows? Or does it really work only on the "movable" windows?
Thanks...

Coko,

Why don't you ring Pentagon and they will tell you what can and can't be done. Imho they are the best with the best aftersales guarantee. TDV6 - gone

Josh,
I spoke to Pentagon, but wasn't very impressed with what the guy was offering. Never the less, I just spoke to Revere London and they offered me a good solution, a 3mm thick film to protect all my windows.
So I will be going for that, will let you know next week how it went...

Yes mate...
I am getting the Revere exhaust installed next week and they will do it at the same time.
If you want I can take some pics and let you know how it really works. I am curious myself to be honest.

Coko - I'm sure it can be applied to non moving windows as well, it better be because they've put them on my quarterlights on the vans - i think the only reason fitters like to say moving windows only is because it is easy to fit if you can remove the glass from the surrounds. It is possible to fit to static windows if it is the same style of fitting as privacy film is, but it can be a right pain getting the right size and fitting it in akward places.
