I might be wrong but it does look to be a detachable tow bar as tou can see a green detachable knob on it

I don't have a RRS, but i thought they was all the same towbars Question

edit: The end ball is clearly different that a standard one now i have looked again without the sun shinning on my screen Embarassed

That's the Aussie spec Land Rover detachable tow bar. Yes it has the green quick release knob on it and it secures to the car in exactly the same way the UK spec does, but comes in two pieces.

This is the part that attaches to the car:

As 2nd rower states, it is the standard LR tow pack. On the actuall element where the ball is attached, you get a couple of hefty spanners and unscrew the ball. You put the cross bar on the ball mount, put the ball back through and retighten, simple as that. The A frame clips into the cross bar mechanism and is kept clear of the actuall ball itself. The only problem is you cannot stow the ball /tow hitch under the floor any more, so mine sits in the garage when not being used. The vehicle mount does not change and fits snugly in the boot space as usual. I will take some more pictures tomorrow with more detail.

Cheers

More Photo's

MX,

1st picture shows the A bar mounting bracket attached to the Disco3 / Sport Tongue, this is the standard model for Australia, I am not sure if it is the same for the UK market however

The 2nd close up of it attached to the vehicle mount, retaining clip of course left off to save time

and finally with the A frame mounted on to the actual bar itself..

Hopefully the closer shots should be able to give you an idea whether it would fit or not. If you are interested i will try and get more details for you on who distributes the product.

Thanks

Jim

England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

Can't say my issue was any where near as complicated but i went for the thule roof bars and aluminium bike racks to go on top of the car. granted it's a long way up there to get them on and off but they are out of the way and I think for £300 or so I got all aluminium kit and fixings for 3 bikes.

maybe worth considering?

The A bar mounting bracket is permanently attached to the Tongue, so once you have put it on, it stays on. No different from putting the tow pack on after it has been initially set up, and clipping the actual A frame in place. The actual lot cost about 120 aussie which is approximately 55 pound.

MX I will ask for a UK delivery price for you.. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Java Black

My problem with a roof mount solution is that I would need a set of rails, a set of cross bars and the MTB aero racks. When I priced them up it was in the order of £450 which is just too expensive! RRS TDV6 SE Java Black +towpack +tintent +Permagrin
