Honestly, no. You'd need to make sure you have the same amp and wiring to the speakers and rear view camera etc. Then the new head unit would have to be coded to your VIN or else it wouldn't be recogn ...

True that, and to be honest the quoted price is far, far lower than fixing it after the fact so thinking about it as an insurance policy isn't a bad shout at all.
